i noticed heavy knocking using thai 95 petrol. but once i pump at malaysia itthe engine quiet down to normal.. thats why i never pump 95 petrol for my busa.. maybe its the thai petrol. :giddy:

it could be due to them having higher benzene content? or mixed with ethanol...

I'm really really sorry to hear that. I know how much yr heart ache. Please change your rim IMMEDIATELY. DO NOT try and repair it. Front wheel if was keep the bike on the road. DO NOT play with your life.

Cheers

I was suprised with the 'softness' of busa rims...

I also encountered this before..but then I pressed the rim and not changing new one (the dent is not that serius though)..cause imo it seems like no matter one press/buy new one,it can damage again when hitting potholes/log/etc...Even after buying new one, it can crack when hitting potholes/log/etc..I am not that stingy abt it..its just that, i am not convinced abt it.

Appreciate if someone can convince me that having new rims is better than pressing and that new rims wont crack when hitting potholes and wat not...I know that by pressing the rims,it wont be as strong as before...But even new rims, are there any warranty for it?as in it wont crack compared to pressed rims?

Thanks in advance :)

Another thing,is there any aftermarket rims which are stronger than the stocks?

I thought a thought. But the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I thought. If the thought I thought I thought had been the thought I thought, I wouldn't have thought so much.

i totally agree!!!!!!!

why save on it and it may cause u to lose your entire busa or maybe even yr life..

2 things never be stingy.. 1)the tyres/rim and 2)brakes.. they are the onli 2 things keeping u on the ground.

I totally agree with you guys and given ideal financial situation, i would have just rode straight to the bike shop and change the rim, no questions asked or posted in forum. :(

haha... we have exactly the same thinking...

How much does it cost you to press back the rim and where did you do it?

I'm also interested to know if aftermarket rims are much stronger... if they are, i'll pop new rims for my bike the moment i get my moo lahs.... :D

waterwetter seems okie.

Muzzy fan is said to work well too.

Alternatively, can fix a 2nd fan like some of them.. :)

I have just done my visual inspection on the front rim and I found a dent on it... it is on the right side... I personally think that it is quite a big dent...

Is there anything I can do?

What should I do?

If I don't do anything, is there any safety implication?

haiz.... :(

The rear rim looks okie... The left side of the front rim also looks okie... only this dent on the right front rim...

I don't have any equipment to jack up the front to do the rest of the check yet... so that's all I discovered for now.... :(

oh sh1t...... it worst then i've expected... a stretch of the rim is out...

well u can either get a new rim costing a bomb or u can visual check using a magnifiying glass to see that there is no hairline crack or whatsoever... if there is not any then u can send it fro pressing but no garanteed after pressing it may not crack so check again after pressing.. set back is the stretch that has been pressed back will be weaker... good luck..

you have options for forged aluminium or carbon fibre rims... the good thing is they are a whole lot lighter but they can't be pressed back if damaged... and it's a lot more expensive..

the busa rims are already quite tough for its weight and price, the newer litre bike rims are even worse... they'll juz crack when subjected to high impact. o_O

go press back the rim then...

if not the high speed stability will be compromised...

the dent seems quite jialat.. :goodluck:

Bad advise dude....u can press e rim..its aluminium...will make e' rim structure weaker....shld just change it...think shld think of safety 1st over $$$...worst comes to worst advise not to ride the bike till it been fix.

Respect :)

the rim ain't aluminium... go take one and weigh and you'll know..

pressing back is one of the cheapest option since that's the most viable to the owner..

i've been riding on a pressed rim for the last 3yr running at speeds above 240 most of the time.. the rim is stronger than you think..

or my luck is better than i think... :cheeky:

my rim has been dented and sent for pressing about 3 years back and all through this time i've been using it with no issues at all...

that can be a sign of how strong the rim is or how lucky i have been all this while...

yupz.. found it.. it's aluminium... but i would believe it aluminium alloy, not the normal aluminium... the weight is significantly heavier from forged aluminium rims..

Is that a joke? Are you serious? You will trust your life at 300km/h on a pressed front rim?

I'm speechless.

No..dont get me wrong...i trust new rims more than pressed...its just that new rims doesnt comes with a guarantee that it wont crack when hitting potholes/log/etc...so imo, its like back to square one..

and with kaieiru's experience on pressed rims, it seems that even pressed rims are quite strong though...

Anyway...I'm monitoring my rims now and then...I'm also looking for AM rims too...believing that stock rims are not that strong...Btw,when i pressed my rims, its not that seriously dented but i know its still pressed rim..

If you're riding a bike but not calculating the 50 possibilities in the 50 meters of road ahead of you, then you're dangerous and shouldnt be on one.
