I thought Busa was tire shreder but ends up to be chain, rear spocket and rubber cusions (really not sure how they called but are those V shape rubbers fitted between the spocket and the rim) shreder as well.

Changing them this Saturday after 24,000 km. Main reason is that I try to utilize all thye BHP available from the bike. Therefore there is a price to pay.

Those rubber cushions are cush drive damper for the rear sprocket hub, Changed mine at 30k mileage, inclusive of the chain and sprocket set.

Ermmmm I'm not very gd in explaining these in technical terms bro. Perhaps Kaieru will be able to help on that. It was my mech who checked and found that my cush drives were hardened and there's too much free play when placed in the hub while changing my rear sprocket. After the replacement, I can feel the instant roll off whenever the throttle's being pumped and there's no significant lag on the rear wheel.

:thumb: simple and right to the point..

there's no lag when throttle is applied when moving off from rest.. this will also reduce the chain and sprocket wear as there's less moving/jerking at the drive chain area...

provided you dont rev hard and speed up from stop position ?

no.. even if you move off normally, (when the the cush damper is worn) you can feel a heavy clunk when the power is transmitted to the rear wheel.

another thing to add.. normally you wouldn't feel the clunk when the cush damper is worn.. (but if you do.. it's very seriously worn!)

in normal wear and tear cases, you will just find that there's a lag in the power delivery for throttle -> rev -> acceleration of the bike

hehe i didnt phrase it correctly,

reduce the chain and sprocket wear as there's less moving/jerking at the drive chain area...

even with new damper, I mean u might wear the chain n sprockets if u speed of or rev hard from stop position.

definitely.. look for a chain with high tensile strength to reduce the elongation due to the high torque of the bike then..

For the dragsters:

Drag Race Chain

EK drag racing chains can rightfully be called the fastest chains in the world. Top Fuel champion Larry “Spiderman” McBride set a world record E.T. of 5.876 seconds using the EK 630SHB chain. The EK 530DRZ has achieved a terminal velocity of 338.269 mph on Sam Wheeler’s E-Z-Hook Streamliner at the Bonneville Salt Flats. The EK 530DRZ is also the choice of more top NHRA Pro Stock motorcycle racers than any other chain.

DR series (DRZ, DR2 etc) is Drag Race Chain High tensile strength, heavy chain, non sealed for more power

530DRZ2: The Pro Stock Racer’s Choice

Designed in conjunction with Pierre Elliott of Diamond Powersports, the EK 530DRZ is chosen by more top NHRA Pro Stock Bike competitors than any other chain. The reason is simple: When a championship is on the line, you can’t afford a failure. In 2004, Sam Wheeler used the 530DRZ in recording the fastest-ever terminal speed for a two-wheel vehicle: 338.269mph!

Recommended application: drag racing up to 300hp

Tensile strength: 11,500 lbs.

Available lengths: up to 160 links

RX and RXO is Street Racing Chain Light weight, sealed or non sealed, average tensile strength

Our RX-series chains are designed specifically for racers who need to shave every ounce from their bikes and don’t mind replacing their chains on a regular basis. The RX chains are similar to the RXO line, but RX chains have no O-ring seals, saving up to half-a-pound versus their sealed counterparts.

Recommended application: up to 600cc/120hp for 520RX; up to 750cc/150hp for 530RX

Available colors: gold, chrome

Tensile strength: 8400lbs. for 520RX; 9400 lbs. for 530RX

These KPS Cush Drive Rubbers are much stronger than the stock OE units. If you dragrace or have a lot of hp and go through OEM rubbers on a regular basis these are what you need, they will far outlast the stock ones.

Go for heavy duty cush drives and high tensile strength chain with heavy duty sprockets and it should last u longer than u would expect it to be. Another bonus point if u have oiler installed for continuous lubing of your drive chain. :thumb:

http://boostbysmith.com/cush.html

Good suggestion but does not make much of financial sense:

OEM Cush rubber = S$42 (abt 30,000km)

KPS Cush rubber = US$65 + US$20 Shipping = US$85 / S$115 (abt ????km)

Spending S$115 for OEM will last you for approximate 80,000 km (S$115 / S$42 = 2.7 times of changing them).

I was wondering if the KPS Cush Rubbers can last that long.

Guys this is just the way I'm looking at it, does not necessary means I'm correct.

Well, i'm willing to test it out and let you all know the results.. but that will be my next cush rubber change as i've just changed mine recently... then you all can decide if it's really worth it..

i'm now taking note of the stock cush rubber mileage and compare it against the ones from KPS.

The process should be fairly accurate as my riding style is quite consistent and 95% of my mileage is based on highway + track riding (minimum street mileage except riding on street to get to 2nd link). Also dun be surprise if you find that my stock cush rubber is replaced rather quickly (as I dun think mine can last 30000km)
