there are a wide spectrum of condition of 2nd hand busas from practically (restored) new to barely at the brink of total catastrophic failure.

if based on normal oil change maintainance only, the performance will definitely be going downhill... it really boils down to what kind of care the prev owner gives to the busa.

:goodluck: in shopping for your bike.

you mentioned that with only oil maintenance the condition of the bike will go downhill... so what are the other kinds of maintenance to do to maintain or improve the bike's performance?

mainly for higher mileage bikes

regular valve clearance at fix intervals, intake/exhaust port decarbonization, replacement of pistons/piston rings, change of crankshaft bearings , wire harness replacement, rubber hose(fuel/coolant) replacement, axle replacement, bearings replacement, injector heads replacements (due to lack of injector cleaning facilities), camshafts replacement(rare but is recommended by service manual), the list goes on..

but it's always cheaper to go aftermarket when replacing stock parts... therefore it's a good time to upz the performance of the aging busa... :cheeky:

There's no replacement for displacement except for a blower

no prob.. happens to be by the pc..

anyway, it's really costly to do all those replacements at one shot. so it's always a matter of choosing the most likely item to fail to replace. This is known as preventive maintainance.

Btw, looking for a set of soft side panniers, particularly the Givi Arrow side bags. A common problem with side bags is that they may be burnt by the exhaust since sport bikes have relatively high mounted exhausts.

anybody know if these side bags would suit the hayabusa comfortably?

Any other recommendations, if you feel that other bags suit it more?

Is Clifford good with Busas? Cuz if I ever buy a 2nd hand busa, he will be the first person I send to for inspection....

no complaints from me and the other busa riders under his service/repair/maintainance regime...

from what you can see there's actually quite a large handful of busa riders there.. :cheeky:

stock exhaust? or what?

with yoshi full system.

frankly i doubt it will be much of a problem, since the arrow bags are designed for sportbikes.

just looking for some reassurance.

also checking for its suitability and also any advice on better side bags, since the busa IS a sport-tourer and touring usually requires quite a bit of luggage.
