When was the last time you changed gear oil?

Probably around 2000km ago.. Should still be ok right?

Of course I trust my skills. I ride alone cos I don't trust the competency of the driver next to me.

Could also be carb dirty or some other issue.

Hard to troubleshoot unless you bring to a mechanic.

For me once I feel the engine not smooth, I know it's time to change gear oil.

After the change, smooth again.

Vespa - Security

Hello mates

Grabbing a old Vespa soon. What are the options on security against thief?

It's hard to have modern security alarm since ignition is only by kickstart, no place to hide the unit and battery only serves the ERP unit.

Chaining of the rim is also not possible due to rim/hub.

Appreciate your advice.

Cheers!

Try to weld a place to pad lock your stand, This is what we do over the other side of the border. If they can't take it off the stand they can't ride it off.

Time for a bigger bike....

Hi guys!

I just got my px200 from my dad and i just passed my tp! It is a real wonder to ride it.

However i do have some difficulties riding it... Whenever, I tried to move off without letting go the clutch too fast, my vespa tends to do a mini wheelie which makes me panic and paiseh at the same time... so! is there any tips i should take note of or should i just take my time to release the clutch even slower?

Release slowly. Reduce throttle. Practice. Get used to biting point. enjoy.

hi guys, I was traveling on the expressway just now on my px150 when I heard a funny revving sound from my engine..

When I close throttle, bike was jerky, like riding horse!

When I open throttle, there was a lag before bike accelerates.

When I stopped my bike, the idling was abnormally high. Fiddling with the idle knob doesn't work. Problem persisted even after i turned off the engine and restarted it. No problem restarting. Just crazy high idling! Any idea why?

These are probabbly two different problem.

For the lag and jerk, i would get it checked in sequence

1. Petrol and fuel switch on?

2. Alternator wires. The 3 wires sometimes get burnt and fused together causing the jerk. If left unattended, will destroy your coil. Most likely this as when you close throttle, its going alternating off / on mode. Often mistaken for a dirty carb.

Does the high idling still persist? I used to have this problem and it was because the screw thread on my carb is worn causing the idling to go on a high when it pops out of place.

Well...i just push start in the end...

THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF FAILURES:

THOSE WHO THOUGHT AND NEVER DID,

AND THOSE WHO DID AND NEVER THOUGHT.

Ah joo said could be my oil gasket leak. But in the end he just changed engine oil and all was ok! :D

Ok tis one was stupid of me. When I placed my stuff into my side compartment, I accidentally flipped the switch in there. That's why my scoot couldn't start again. :S

Air leak... classic symptoms of running too lean... Lean could be a carb tuning issue... or due to an air leak... easy to seize the engine if you don't pay attention to it soon....
