Hi! Noticed recently i'm leaking copious amounts of engine oil from my cg125, i checked the dipstick and noticed the oil level is well above the max. might be my mechanic who added too much. if that's the case, the engine oil will just leak till it's back to normal level right?

if it continues leaking even after engine oil is normal level on the dipstick, what could be wrong? cos last i checked, my oil seal and ring are still intact. gasket? or engine casing?

and how much would it cost to change engine casing?

Drain off some oil first. Make sure the oil is at the correct level. Too much oil is bad for u engine. Wash off the leaks u see and and try to find the source of leakage. U can simply use a silicon hose attach to a syringe to draw the excess oil out

yeah, too much oil will cause churning, not good for the bike engine.

hey dude,

i suggest that you need to check your eo drain nut. use a torch and white cloth to visually inspect the nut to confirm leaking. use a adjustable spanner to unscrew the a bit, the trick here if the nut gives you the too 'loose' feel of the nut shakes unreasonably (can sway to left and right). i therefore concluded that the internal engine thread has worn out or grown bigger in diameter and causes the loose feeling. i encountered this before. good luck on trying. just my 2 dime. cheers.

RE: "EO level way above max"

Engines need a certain amount of air in the crankcase, hence the manufacturer's recommendation.

Using a personal example - Phantom manual says 1L EO only, but a lot of local shops insist on 1.5 or even 2 litres because they say...

"This bike eat oil wan"

That's because by their own ignorance they overfill the EO, engines on customers' bikes are run with excessive internal pressure and gaskets start to leak (black stains coming out of engine). They then blame the machine, reap the future repair costs.

Bike also becomes quite jerky when reacting to throttle changes and sounds very constipated. Put it back to Honda recommended specs (remember, they designed the bike, not your favourite mechanic) and all's well again.
