Thinking of buying timberland waterproof boot for riding....but now see this budget riding boot change my mind. Am worry riding will tear $200 timberland boot....best try this and see how first.

i've wasted 2 pair of timberland boots on bikes.. and water proof is only from outside splash. if water goes in by neck (due to heavy rain or flood) inner sole will start to peel off.

1st pair, went back to shop and complain, sent email to customer care...

so they replaced new one.

2nd pair, spoiled after some trip, thrown away.

I am still using timberland office shoes and once gear shifter tear away the leather.

again went back to shop and they replaced new one..

looks good but does not last long, especially the gear shifter area, better get proper riding boot.

I had a pair of the cheap boots noted on first post. After a few months, the soles cracked in half exposing the leather. So would not recommend them as I think they will fly apart if in any accident.

I have a pair of Dr Martins (S$120). they are not waterproof, but are very comfortable and the leather has held up after 2 years of riding the NSH. I like them because they are comfy for walking and dont look too out of place at restaurants. They are pretty nasty looking now, but the leather and soles are still holding up.

I bought a pair of caterpillar heavy work boots in the states for US$60 so will switch to those once my Doc martins wear out.

LOL, what a cunning guy. Btw, your timberland boot last how long for riding until the gear shift part torn off? Thanks for your advice bro.

I use Shifter Skinz on my shoes. Great protection for any footwear, although they do take away some of the traction needed when pushing your bike backwards.

What is this shifter skinz? A layer of leather that cover the shoe?

I think some modifications at the zip area will make the budget boot heavy rain worthy :)

Thank you TS, i have been looking into this for quite some time. Having a pair of timberland boots, but i believe its not suitable for heavy riding,

SAF Goretex boots still the best.

Light, waterproof n most of all FOC every 2 years.

Been using it for the last 8 years. Since I only do reversist once a year, why not put it to good use? In fact, the army boot has been my daily use walk around boot too if I ride out anywhere... Which is abt 90% of the time.

Well that's abt the best thing so far to come from SAF for me.
