Hi all,

Would like to get experience from all bikers here. I'm starting my first motorcycle lesson soon.

I understand that we are able to bring our own helmet. Is it necessary? Is the helmet provided by CDC ok?

They also mentioned that we need gloves as well? Is it complusory?

Any other things to take note of?

durian gloves sold at cdc for a buck. compulsory to wear, but u can get a better quality glove if u desire so, of cos more then a buck though.

helmet u can get ur own if u don wanna use cdc helmets, which contains a funky smell, although some ppl may like it.

i think it is better to just use the CDC helmets. bringing your helmets there and carrying it around might soon be a burden as time goes by.

and furthermore you might drop during your lesson and also might accidently drop your helmet on the ground which could damage your helmet. CDC helmets you drop and break also they don't care. Just my 2 cents though.

The school itself won't provide the gloves?

What i'm afraid is the smell of everyones sweat. LOL...

Any CDC learners here? Is it complusory for me to take the 1 hour motorcycle orientation training before the first lesson? I remember when i register the person told me something about this orientation thingy.

How is the arrangement like? Like orientation and lesson must be on same day?

i would suggest going to LIM AH BOY motorbike assessories shop to get

1) a cheap psb approved helmet and free helmet bag (sharing helmet is yucky man! hahahaha)

2) a cheap pair of gloves ( protection when u do drop off bike esp in E-brake)

3) a pair of arm sleeves (protection from sun and as required by riding centres)

4) a head liner (reduce sweat exposure to helmet)

Posted (edited)

@donutbiker Hm.. good suggestions. You mean the arm sleeves is complusory?

@kenzie Yeah, that's what i thought too. Haha...

and oh, let's say i would like to get a helmet for bike lessons, any good suggestions?

go back to the old schoolz..bring newspaper and shove them into thier smelly helmets. Alternatively wear a cap. Dont be silly to take a whiff of thier helmets, most ppl will still do tt.

when i took my 2B at cdc, my brother told me if u want to pass fast wear their helmet. Lol..After my first lesson, i could not take it..throughout the first lesson i felt like im gonna puke..the smell "stick" on u until u go home and wash ur hair..haha..so i suggest get a cheap helmet at ahboy. E.g Sumo. or u can borrow ur fren helmet if any..

Gloves no need so fancy lah buy at cdc for $1! :thumb:

ohh! and beware of of their knee guards and elbow guards!!

-_-

Posted

@sHuHaDa their elbow and knee guards stinks as much as their helmets. Planning to get a pair of gloves and a helmet. Considering the guards also, selling $20 at CDC, quite reasonable pricing and no need to rush before lesson to get the guards too. Haha....

@rezz_shaz Yeah, true can use as spare/pillion helmet. I should should be getting one helmet that cost around $50.

@zyrofillica ya la, actually got try smell abit la, but only once then total turn off la...

I keep reading threads these days about full face safety and that 30% of injuries that occur to the face is caused at the chin. So full face is definitely recommended. But izzit weird if learner uses full face? Buy now can still use when pass bike. Wad u guys think?

Posted

fabian, u can wear the elbow and knee guards over ur pants or arm sleeves so ther eis no skin contact.... to reduce the yucky feeling...hahahaha..

zakaria, after i passed 2b its been full face for me, and my full face has saved me when i was thrown forward while trailing in Msia. Hence I strongly recommend FULL FACE when riding.

However, for riding sch, i think an open face make communication with instructors easier and its MUCH COOLER too.

i suggest u wear an arm sleeve esp in the aftnoon, if you goa wear jacket or long sleeve clothing will be very warm.
