My girlf's birthday is coming, and she's turning 18 this year. She likes Vespa, and i told her if she wants then take 2b licence first, and i would definitely love to have a biker chick for a girlfriend but on the other hand, i will worry for her like how she worry for me when i ride. I was thinking of riding her to BBDC on the next day after her birthday but i am not sure should i let her take motorcycle licence. What do you guys think? Would like to hear some personal opinions. Cheers.

of cos it's cool if your gf know how to ride and share the same interest as u, but most importantly, does her parents agree to it?

i am sure you, after riding for a few months know how dangerous it can be while on the road. i think for a female rider, she will be under even more stress and pressure as people will keep looking at her at the traffic light, those lacer wanna-be might disturb her also. on top of that, ask her if she's prepared to get uneven tan line or scar on her leg if she accidentally buang?

instead of rushing to bring her to bbdc to get her license, why not pillion her around more often. let her act as your second pair of eyes and let her gain some road experience first. (i.e., let her warn u about the hazard around you instead of hop onto the bike and switch off) .

bbdc will always be there and learning to ride is very easy. clutch in, change gear, open throttle and move. anyone with sufficient practice will be able to do it but the lack of experience might kill.

the license is always there for people to take. Don't rush!

Biking is dangerous for girls. Especially since the bikes are so heavy the maneuvering of the bike at the start just kills and your gf looks really skinny.

From a girl's point of view, its more scary of course. And bruising can't be helped. Like what the instructor told me, girls usually repeat practical more times cos they more scared so its difficult to pass them at first try. If u dun mind the bruises then let her try it out. Its just lesson to be learnt, another elective to venture. ^_^

To me the most basic problem for girls to ride is...to learn bike must first learn to abandon skirts/dresses/heels for jeans and shoes. :o

If it's my gf, I won't stop her from learning...but I won't encourage either. Riding is a skill which is good to have, but unlike cars, can't just ride any bike without being sub-rider. Why not just learn car?

If really she wants to ride, for every important anniversary or holidays, can get her protective gears (helmet, jacket, gloves, riding shoes, raincoat) to let her know you care. :)

imho, i will not allow my gf to take up riding. because i dun wan to worry for her, i already have enough things to worry already. and most importantly, i am selfish. i wun allow the people i love around me to ride a motorbike, not to mention being a pillion. (with the exception of being my pillion)

anyway guys, i just watched the movie inception.

for those who have not seen it, you guys should really go and see it.

its a very awesome movie in my opinion.

for those who seen it, im sure you will agree with me.

Your gf will change your mind on letting her ride bike through inception!

The one hour van falling down bridge scene and the people in van waving their hands around...quite silly. And the hotel fight scene reminds me of matrix. :o

Watch hot tub time machine! I just watched...funny~

I don't mind letting my gf learn, but on the road is another thing...my gf a bit blur blur will overlook details some times...missing details on road is hazardous.

well tis king of question u must ask ur gf and urself.mayb ur 2 can discuss abt it first before deciding lor.i rmb i have some lady fren riders who told me why they ride bike, and consequences of riding.they mention tat its exciting,a form of fast transport to go anywhere.but the cons are prepare for the worst like accident, lost balance, scars in their body,no strength to push,no sense of direction which prob make them lost in some place.but if riding is her passion, watever the consequences are they will still ride lol.

I was thinking that if she takes the licence first when she doesn't need it, til class 2 without riding yet, by the time she wants to ride, her demerit points will be 24 points in 2 years already. Okay I won't rush haha :D

Hmm, now that i think of how many times i've seen girls fall on their first practical, plank slalom, e-brake and S course, i'm rethinking again

She says learning car is expensive and furthermore her family doesn't have or can afford a car, so she doesn't really need class 3 now. Btw, by subbing someone as a 2nd rider whose insurance premium is cheaper than mine, do i need to pay for the 2nd rider's sub?

Learning private car nowadays is like the same price for learning bikes. Below 1k can get license if one time pass...I got a friends who spent $800+ to get car license. :o

Should think long term...now can't afford car doesn't mean next time can't afford! Maybe next time can afford but no time to learn. So it's good to get first and think later.

Some times my friends ask me why need get car/bike license.

And my reply would be: You'll never know one day you may wake up in a desert or barren land with only a bike/car beside you to escape! :cheeky:

Silly answer I know...but one day maybe will need the skill for emergency purposes. :)

Anyway...Thinking of going for inspection these few days...worried won't pass waste money. :(

Ya...but if need re-inspection, need pay again. :(

So might as well get things fixed before going, save the money.

Re-inspection fees = one week petrol money!

The closest inspection center is just few minutes away from my house. :o

People from phantom thread say they will let off with a warning. Shall see how again.

If really cannot I think I go make new number plate.

Come to think of it...how do you buy road tax? They send you a letter informing you and can pay online like season parking? Then wait for letter with road tax to come?
