Wow, you guys have done the advanced riding course.

From your experience that day, may I know what are the main differences between the advanced riding course and the normal circuits we do?

They both look the same from the pictures leh.

hi endless,

the adv riding lessons is in the same compound of the cdc circuit but the thing that r taught r different.

i went for this course with the company of 5 other members on 30/9/06.

so coincidentally, all 6 trainees for this lesson, happen to be all the CB riders..

\

toto29 - cb400, myself - cb750, tingchiyen- cb900(hornet) , davinchee n c.y.au - cb1000 n earlybird - cb1100 (big BLUE bird )

to summarize , lessons covers 1.) identifying different tyres of tyres 2.) tight-cornering technics 3.) braking technics 4.) correcting bad-riding habits 5.) slowing down technics and 5.) lots of practise in releasing a rear wheel-lock during emergency . all in 1hr of air-con and 5 hrs of sun/rain.

after attending the adv riding course, i m more aware of my bad-habits, more confident of handling my bike.

" whatever you do when you're riding, 1.) give yourself enough reaction-time and 2.) Never stay in others blind-spot " Quoted from course instructor .

it's worth attending n do drink enough water and have a good sleep the night before as the lessons are mainly practical in the sun or rain

Hi Toto, thanks for the photos of the advance riding course. Folks, I had a great time doing it. Raised my AWARENESS aplenty all round...was especially happy about learning and actually doing the skid recovery and coming out of it in CONTROL !! (last time I had a real life skid, came out with a fracture, some stitches and costly bike repairs! If I had taken the course, the chances of a better result is possible??) Overall, it is putting into practice the importance of AWARENESS and CONTROL after learning about it. We had lots of practical time out at the course...confidence increased lah.

Hey Specs, wud sure like to join in on CELEB DAY, but not in town leh, what to do? Wish those of you able to tuck in a yummy great time.:thumb:

i took both courses. actually it's quite similar, except that you get to practice for a longer time. there are some new things that've been thought, though...

if you took the defensive riding course, then what you would have learned was riding posture, ie. lean in, lean with, lean out. you would also have learnt slide-control-stop. same thing in ARC, except slide-control-stop is replaced by slide-control-go, ie. control your rear-wheel slide and change direction to avoid hitting something. also, there're some new techniques, like quick-shifting from 5th gear to 1st to slow down in an emergency before a corner. also, we got an extended course in wet-weather riding courtesy of the heavy rain. :cheeky:

i think basically either take defensive riding or advanced riding, there's really not much need to take both unless you're siao-onz.
