hey rykros.. thanks for the heads up..

 

i saw a brand new gold h6 (2007) at loois.. was just wondering if there are any issues with getting like a 07 model now (2010)?

 

for engine wise it is still using the cbr600 (06) sorry i am not a very bike techy person thus asking to find out more..

hmm the h6'07 from wat i see is tat parts are difficult to get.. i dun remember if eversucess or fjt have parts for it.. gonna check tat out if i drop by there... power wise is ok-ok only ar (of courz i say tat cuz im ridin a 919 :cheeky:).. handlin is good for a street bike.. but it looks sleek.. i like the design.. if only i can get my hands on the headlight then i would hve fix tat instead of the fz1n headlite which took me a day to modify to fit it in.. yup its using de-tuned cbr6'06 engine..

the model is '07 but its still ok as long as the year of manufacture is a '09... i dunno if im tokin sense... nt sure if it is written in the LOG card for the year of manufacture.. HAHA !! :cheeky:

in your opinion, what kind of potential issues i will face?

 

1) dup key- like you mentioned if its PI then will have problem? and boon siew wun be able to dup key for me?

 

2) parts- what are some of the bike shop that may have the parts for the bike? thanks for helping me check up on eversuccess and fjt.. any other bikeshop that might service hornet or good in servicing hornet?

 

i am trying to weight the pros and cons to aid me in making my decision :)

If its a honda bike, theres alot of shops can do.. Same concept same type.. If u r frens wit boon siew, maybe they will the key for u but most of the time they dun..

mine oso silver but more to matt grey gunmetal kind of colour.. maybe you wan to try out replica spray painting @ autobay i think.. im lookin to spray back mine too... has abit of paint chip off due to wear n tear n a small crack at my front fender due to over tighten of the screw... let me noe too if u found somewhere they can spray back the original colour n the price :thumbs:

 

yeah the 250 n the 600 can be differentiated by the coolant hose on the right side in btw the tank n the engine block.. the 600 has it but the 250 doesnt... tats y alot who dunno abt hornet will ask if the 250 is a s4 wif modified pipe to be high mount..

 

anyway for the past year i was also search for a h6 and price wise for the '00-'04 model is 4k-7k.. the so-called new '07 model is ard 12k.. there was a few sellin at garage sales.. mite juz wan to pm them to ask if it is still for sale.. no harm askin rite bro??

 

i send mine to planet motors @ ubi... i find unique has great offers but mechanics are nt to my liking.. change eo n change tires i find they are cheap ar.. anyway u using stock pipes ar bro?? nt intendin to change??

 

same my front fender crack too... guess its the same problem as urs.

Hmmm the paint loss its glossy looks, front of the tank its chipped... sadden me whenever I wash n wax it. Usually what's the market rate for such spray work n patch work?

By the way the oil filter to be change during each EO change or alternate?

Fjt can get almost all honda models parts except for bolt n nuts n screws.. New paint job i guess is ard 300+ for whole bike.. My tank frnt side oso alot of small chip offs..

I change oil fiter every 2 eo change.. Change eo every 3k..

U sure the h6 hp is on par wit the 919 ??

i think i might need to srevice my radiator.. this afternoon just went riding and the temp rise up to 80%.. scary man..

 

enlightenment please.. or is it normal due to the hot weather?

FJT is the shop dealing with Honda OEM parts.

 

At times its due to insufficient air flow, hot weather, load and traffic jam. At first I experience same problem as you, just try to move the air would dissipate the heat fast and you'll witness significant drop in temp. :thumb:

 

If not above mention perhaps you could check on the hose if there's leak or if the water pump is faulty or leak? Radiator fan not running at targeted temp?

they have a catalogue bro.. or if u wan to view the catalogue 1st then i go to this webby to see.. vit M ?? restore engine shine?? shld the engine be shiny in the 1st place?? i doubt so.. to me the whole bike is matt colour inclusive of the engine block.. maybe if u wan to shine it u can try meguair or juz wax.. the engine block has a layer of paint on it.. cuz my engine block has sth like a layer of paint chipped off..

 

anyway abt the bhp is 102 @ 12krpm for h6'07 and 108 @9krm for h919'03.. the diff in rpm makes alot of diff...

 

for the coolant, when was the last coolant changed?? if it was long time ago, maybe u wan to change coolant?? is the fan running when its hot?? if u r changing the coolant, check ur water pump too to ensure its working... is your eo too light?? maybe try 20w50 grade kind of eo.. much suited for sg rd..

bike has already been sold to a nice gentleman a few weeks back.

 

however, hornet 9 is still one of the nicest bike that i've ever own.

Thanks for your catalogue its really useful. Cause I try to recover the engine block shine, but its kind of tough but so far I only manage to clean up the header and mid pipe.

 

Is the price offer by FJT decent/reasonable?

 

Saw a Triumph bike (should be street triple) with very nice side twin muffler... sharing some characteristic of H919.

hmm... any shop to recommend to check on the radiator.. does anybody think it's due to the radiator? anyway, night riding is cool.. the temp only rise till half like that.. fan is working.. i already solved the broken hose issue.. >"

 

btw, what are the sizes for the brake pads front and back? easy to change by self?

maybe you shld change your coolant bro.. maxima coolaide is a good coolant.. or if u wan to invest maybe u wan to change to samco hose?? :smile:

hmm is your coolant reservoir filled with sludge or brown substances?? if yes, then maybe your cooling system in the engine is starting to rust due to coolant not being changed for a long time.. when doin a coolant change, do a flushing too.. meaning force water in on 1 end and let the water out on the other end... i bet u will see your coolant being drained out to be brown colour...

hornet no samco hose.. coolant just topped up.. maybe will try better coolant when my $$ comes

 

perhaps ya can check with Unique motorsports? They have samco hose for 919.

By the way is the coolant level too low?

 

OR you can even try using a brush to sweep the radiator... you'll find some small stone and dust...

yup I saw it on the service manual, ya can try bend it yourself...

if there's crack/puncture surely the radiator gotta be replaced... but I believe leaking coolant would be visible if it happen. :cheeky:

yeah true u can bend it back but chances r, u mite juz break the fins unless u can really control ur strength.. anyway i said if the fins dented is the worst thing as heat cant dissipate or be cooled down by the air.. even if u manage to bend it back, the heat dissipation wun be as good or the same as b4 it was bend..

 

another thing, u mite wan to check ur coolant... a coolant is juz an anti-freeze and preventing the internals from rusting and an additive to change abit of the water properties.. the water compound is the one which cools it.. tat is y i prefer maxima coolaide than engine ice.. sorry but this is juz preferences :smile: or if u can get SAF green colour concentrated coolant tat is the best.. mix it 50-50 with water then pour it in.. to me that is the best coolant ever.. tested on 1 s4 b4 and the fan turned on only in a jam when moving like a snail.. normal traffic lite stop, the fan will nvr turn on.. if only i knew wat is the exact model of the coolant.. i only noe tat it is from SPC.. the grade itself i have no idea...
