Was on the road today, my 6th lesson.. learn with a private instructor.

There was a particular stretch of road that was in a bit of construction when i was driving pass there... no choice can't keep left.

One bus behind, SBS bus, was tailgating me ALL THE WAY. stopped at traffic lights and he stop so near me. Moved off, and he still did the same. WHAT THE HELL.

I jus kept my cool. i knew some drivers jus like to eat L-Plates. I jokingly said i would "complaint." this was where all the debate began with my instructor.

He said i was wrong, cause i was too slow, and that cause him to keep coming behind me.

On the other hand, i don't agree with him totally. YES, i admit that i was slow, BUT there was construction on the road, the traffic was considered heavy for a L-learner. I could not keep left at the same time. I felt that the BUS DRIVER should not have tailgated me, but keep some distance. But my instructor kept insisting i was wrong to say that i wana complaint, cause i was SLOW.

Am i really the fault here?

I just can't seem to communicate well with my instructor. He can't speak good english for christ sake, but he keeps using ENGLISH to teach me, in broken sentences. U know, those people speak hokkien only but speak english in one bit and bit. that's him.

Maybe there's a communcation break down with between us? he doesn't seem to see my point.

well..tailgating doesn't happen only to L platers..anyone on the road (l plate p plate or no plate) also will kena..maybe it was just your luck.No offence, but i find some times L platers who lack confidence and enter the roads, they're really dangerous. There was once i was nearly hit because a L plate car rolled back quite some distance before moving off from green light. So,stopping distance also very important!

:) don't let such incidents of inconsiderate road users affect your mood for learning then..all sorts of pple on the road. There was once a cdc instuctor said, some drivers love to bully L-platers,because they were bullied when they were L platers last time..so the trend continues..have to agree with him to some extent.

actually i dont see aniting dat u can complain abt lor...den oso issit u realli slow in movin off???i tink its onli allowed 2 secs after it turns green light or after the car in front of u move off den u gotta move off...dats wad my instructor(CDC instructor) say...either dat or its juz simply the bus was impatient lor...alot of tis wan lar...drive more on the road and u will noe...there are lots of impatient ppl on the road wan...

ez... first.. stay in e middle of e lane, parallel parking like normal.. in e middle of e single lane..

1. reverse.. until e first pole "touch" e top right hand of e windscreen.

then once that happen, FULL LOCK to the LEFT.

2. look at ur right mirror. Once BODY of the CAR is in line wif the LAST INSIDE pole. TURN steering wheel back STRAIGHT.. 2 rounds that is..

3. reverse.. reverse.. slowly of course.. den wen FIRST POLE OUTSIDE... touch e LOWEST LEFT of ur FRONT WINDSCREEN... FULL lock to the RIGHT..

4. MOVE forward full lock to e LEFT to keep car parraell..

5. reverse straight and PUFF!! there is ur perfect parking!

ez rite.. its vertical slightly more difficult.. coz e space veri veri small..

Anyone did their class 3 at UBI? share some tips during test?

As you all know, the harsh condition of ubi makes it difficult for L-plates drivers. If you kena test during peak hours even worst.

What are yr tips when driving around ubi for TP test? what to look out for and etc..

You should kena my instructor... super power one...

He knows i have Class 2A and most of the time he doesn't teach one... Just tell me to drive how i ride my bike and he'll spend the rest of the time dreaming or eating or talking on his hp booking some prostitute (i swear this, almost everytime, have to hear his whole disgusting cheesy conversation) this guy really sucks. FAT, LAZY & SUCKS!

let me go for circuit only twice and say it's more than enough. tell me that 2 times is enough for an idiot to pass the test so if i fail i'm worst than an idiot. wah lau really cannot tahan.

in the end i failed... kena immediate failure at figure of 8, kena kerb. Mind you, i learnt everything myself, i even had to ask my frens the steps and stuff, that fat ass never teach anything one, only the parking, but even that he just mumbled a few instructions then expect me to remember everything and then left me alone in the car and tell me to practice myself and went to some coffeeshop to lah kopi and dream. that time we were at some private estate road.

everytime also quarrel with me, but when time to collect money at the end of the lesson suddenly become Mr Nice Guy. F*** OFF MAN!

currently i'm looking for a new instructor to retake the test. anyone with good suggestions or recommendations?

keratinize: practicing the circuit only two times is definitely not enough...the circuit is actually the most likely area you'll fail because one mistake like mounting the kerb means you can go home (that's how i failed my first test).

however if the instructor is good and teaches you all the reference points for direction change, parallel/vertical parking, S-course, you should pass provided you don't panic and make careless mistakes. also remember to always watch out for other cars/bikes when doing your vertical parking cos the front of your car will swing out when you're reversing in.

if you're thinking of enrolling in BBDC, i recommend my instructor tew teck leong. nice and friendly guy, and can really teach. he can speak both english, chinese and dialect well, so communication shouldn't be a problem. don't waste your money on that screwed-up private instructor anymore :goodluck:

Thanks guys...

but i stay in AMK... so BBDC is like alittle way off for me.

Ubi still can bear with it but BBDC bueh tahan!!!

Anyway, i'm cutting myself some slack now and preparing for my upcoming exams in May-June and only after that will i start looking seriously for a new instructor.

Hey hey, my Test date is on 28th May and I have not venture into the circuit yet. He knows I have Class 2A.

Total lessons I have learned up to date : 12. Out of 12 lessons, 2 lessons learning how to parallel park, the rest all drive around UBI.

The only thing I'm unhappy with is that my intructor never feedback me on my progress. E.g "Ah Di, your parallel parking sucks, must practise more" "Still got three point turn and circuit haven't learn, more lessons hor" He should track my progress and update me. For me it's like learning to drive but I don't know if I did the skill correctly or good enough to pass that particular stage. *Sigh*

Btw, do we have to remember the test routes? Will the Tester direct you to go left or right at every junction/turn?

Test date getting nearer, my balls are beginning to shrink. Cheerio.

wah...i see take private sumtimes can be quite swey ah...my fren oso...ended up enrolling as a sch student..me oso currently sch student at CDC...cos i wanted to finish fast b4 i go NS...so pract test dun need to wait as long as private student...all i can say abt sch instructors is dat i tink they have to have dat sense of responsiblity so more or less u are sure to learn sth at every lesson..ermzz..abt takin at CDC...i find its quite true dat its harder...but den if u're able to pass on ur 1st time at CDC, it goes to show u're quite a skilful driver cos the traffic there is definately much much more heavier den SSDC or BBDC...i'm takin my 3rd time tis may...hopefully can pass liao ah..dont wanna waste summore $$...haha..
