.....i ride my 05 R1 in 1,5 years....and i sold it after have accident...and after that i get k6, but cant get my soul at my k6, ended i sold it last month....

Where can I find K4-K5 easily? Just passed and looking to ride a Gixxer.

 

i saw a couple at bt merah..

why not consider the k7?

u pay like $30 more each mth.. + loan extra 1 yr

guys, just got my R1. may i know how i differentiate original speedometer and choing meter. my friend said my meter is choing becoz cant change from km/h to mph. sian sia....

 

by the way my front fork is black , friends are gold. mine 02 r1.comparing with o2.03 r1 too

guys, just got my R1. may i know how i differentiate original speedometer and choing meter. my friend said my meter is choing becoz cant change from km/h to mph. sian sia....

at least i got somethings to say to the shop..

 

i tested my speedo,temp,rpm. everything works fine and accurate with my friends r1 and fazers.

 

juz plain worried. coz the meter looks so original, didnt know that such digital meter got choing one..

 

for the fork i saw alot of black ones lying around in EBAY USA.so was thinking its normal.

 

Please define the seriousness in this 2 stuffs.

 

the bike is damn nice to ride.. but i dont wan to pay extra $800bux for a original meter after this choing one goes kaput

Dun think it can be tighten, unless you have change to the manual one. If on stock , than need to be replace if spoil, but normally, is the chain that is spoil not the tensioner. So when doing valve clearance , it best to get some mech you know very well to help you do. So he will tell you what need to be replace.

if the speedo works fine then jus use it for the time being, should not cause u any great discomfort rite? any way if it help, the 01 model R1s also some have meters tat only show kmph, while some can change between mph and kmph. as for the fork if it fits it should be for ur model of bike,

 

anyway judging from the things ur fren say , all seems to indicate front end changes to the bike, maybe the previous owner crashed the front?

if its fixed properly by the shop it should be ok, jus dun be too eager to clear meter yet.

what cause noisy engine??

 

Let mi have a quick run thorugh.

 

Excessive valve chatter(Depend on how many vlave need to be adjust and any part to replace -range form $200-400 or more)

1)Too large tappet clearance-Adjust (so call the vlave clearance)

2)Weakend or broken valve spring-Replace

3)Worn tappet or cam surface-Replace

4)Worn and burn camshaft journal-Replace

 

Noise seems to come from piston-(i think you know the cost for that)time for a new bike. LOL

1)Worn down pistons or cyclinders- Replace* can change bike laio. LOL

2)Carbon combustion chamber fouled with carbon-clean*mostly happen to kopi bike, cos he too slow. LOL

3)Worn piston pins or piston pin bore-Replace

4)Worn piston rings or rings grooves-Replace

 

Noise seems to come from timing chain-(damage range from $150-$400)

(the famous tick tick sound during start up, but should go off after warm up)

1)Stretched chain-Replace ( happen to most bike after a period of 2-3yr)

2)Worn sprockets-Replace

3)Tension adjuster not working- Repair if can, if not replace

 

Noise seems to come from clutch (Damge range from $150-$300 if change the hub more expenisve)

1)Worn splines od countershaft or hub-Replace- Hub very expensive. LOL

2)Worn teeth of clutch plate-replace

3)Distorted clutch plates,driven and drive plate- replace

4)Worn clutch release bearing-replace

5)Weakend clutch dampers-replace the primary driven gear

 

Noise seems to come form crankshaft-Very expenisve to replace the bearing.cos sometime it will also damge the crankshaft which mean sell bike lor.

 

1)Rattling bearing due to wear-replace

2)Worn and burnt big end bearings-replace

3)Worn and burnt journal bearings-replace

4) Too large thrust clearance- replace thrust bearing

 

 

Ok, that is the few most common problem that bike is giving out noisy sound other than the normal engine sound. Other can be cause by piston hitting the cyclinder head which is a very serious case laio or con-rod going to break laio. Cos anytime piston going to jam.

So guys and gal take good care of your bike. do regular EO change and remeber to clear the carbon once in a while. LOL

 

Last reminder, do take note when sending your bike to do valve clearance, check if the bike shop or your mech got the service manual of your bike, cos the clearance need to be follow closely to what the manual state.cos every tappet shim will got different clearance to be set.

 

Kopi i help you to clear the carbon on your bike. Swee bo?

mine long time never tighten liao.. changed to manual one.. then lazy to tighten... now tick tick...

 

There is also a minus point for those manual cam chain tensioner, tighten too much will caused extra wear and tear, too less will might casued the chain to hit on the engine casing. And you be like a doctor next time , cos always need to check on that.listen to the engine while adjusting the tensioner.
