hey guys, i just bought a second hand YZF-R1 04 version.

1). There's this big white light that lights up every time u turn on the key. what is this light for?? only for nice looking?

2). cause i am new to the bike, i sometimes dunno that i am at top gear because there's no light indicating i am at top gear, any tips on this?

3). the temp shows 95 degrees and above most of the time i ride, and when it goes above 100 degrees, there's this weird noise coming out. what is this weird noise? and is it ok? it sounds like some fan cooling down the engine, but i dunno if it is. and what should be the normal temp shown?

4). the body chassis, which is the body frame, the black metal frame. is it supposed to be very warm? it heats up very easily... if it's not supposed to be very warm, sometimes hot, what might the problem be??

5). what is the fuel consumption ah??

6). lastly, what is the full tank volume? and how much distance can i cover with a full tank?

thanx for helping!!

cheers! and always be safe!

Answers to your question...

1) That light is for RPM meter warning light for you to change gear.

2) You can install gear indicator.

3) It is normal will you hear the fan sound... Coz normally especiall at traffic jam or what, when the temperature goes up, the fan will auto on to cool down your engine.. So its normal.. Dun worry bro...

4) Its normal that it heats up easily esp for R1 04-07. Coz from R1 04-07 all are under seat exhaust, that you you can feel the heat.

5) 1 Litre = 16-18km

6) 18 Litres = 240 for stock bike.

Don't worry.. Any problems can ask us again..

the system turns on the all the indicator lights when u turn on ur ignition, so that if u spot any lights not lit, its an indication of ur led blown.. nice looking meh?? haha.. i actually think it's rather irritating.. but good so that u know any of leds in the instrument cluster working or not.

Good nite Yamaha!!

Actually any motor shop also have. Normal will do... By the way when you ride it long you will naturally shift the gears without seeing the indicator. Just by feel of the speed to the gears. Adjust your riding attitude to the bike and not adjust the bike attitude to your riding style...

1) functions to tell u that ur rpm is above a certain level, eg set it to 9 and when u drag ur engine above 9rpm, it lights up

2) remember the speed at certain rpm, eg 4rpm at gear 6 = 95km/h (for mine)

3) r1 04 is known for its heat. above 105 the fan will start to turn on. reach 100 will off again

4) its like tat. get hot easily

5) full tank around 200-240km kena reserve

6) 18l capacity. 3.4l reserve

u need to high rev to reach 299km/hr..

13.75k rev is the start of the redline..

means no gd for engine liao if u hold there for very long..

trust me..

from gear 1 to 5..

set it to 13.75k rev..

will still light up one..

u will hit above that mark light knife through butter..

for normal riding..

won't light up one lah..

but u high speed.. bent down..

face on ur tank right in front of ur meter..

the light can blind u..

so i set it like that..

default is at 7k rpm.. light up means ask u change gear so rpm will drop..
