try liao let us know

this maxxi tyres considered soft or hard compound?

Posted

hachi: Maxxis Supermaxx at S$290 including installation and balancing. Bikelab carries them. 1122 Serangoon Road.

shaunz: It's considered hard compound. Street riding and occasional trackdays are okay. Medium compound tires will wear way too fast on the streets.

Maybe you can refer to the past few pages. I have input my review during my 3 months usage with Maxxis Supermaxx.

I looked at the foreigner forum they looked ok...I dont really liked the thread design...Till today I still feel that contisport have the best thread design...Is a joy to look at them everyday...

But it doesnt mean wiht hard compound you cannot go track, just be careful and not overdoing it....My friend Fz6 uses 020 also go track and remove the chicken strip in one session....020 is one hell of hard compound....

Skeptical about them ? They have very good track record till date. R6 doing 1.43 laptimes at Johor. I used them and had no complains as well.

For your info, AsiaPac races uses only Hard compound race tires. They're doing consistent 1.35 - 1.36 laptimes.

I don't really see a need for medium or soft compound tires if it's street with occasional track riding.

I do agree with you in this case...Cos many touring tires have as much grip as sport tires 5 years ago...So if I dont see people complaining 5 years....We shouldnt be right now....But I

sucker for thread design and I liked those with front and back diff design till I saw contisport... The design is wicked....I liked it very much...

And we often see big bikes with sticky rubber and most of them have chicken strip enough to feed the whole family....Whereby in this case I personally feel they dont really unitize the extra edge of the tires then why bother changing them in the first place unless comes with the bikes of course.. Or even 400cc using Z rated tires and keep talking about grip when those bikes dont have enough torque to heat them up....

But cheapest tires are better than 2nd hand tires....But there is a market for it in sillypore...Those can ride 100bhp beast but save on tires....

Just my 2 cents...

What kind of hard compound tires ?

Tire pressure and proper suspension setup plays a part in getting the most out of your tires as well.

well its a long time ago, some 7 or eight years ago when i was riding my 2A bike. This particular mechanic recommended me some kind of hard compound tyre (can't remember it as it was so long ago) due to the fact that i asked for some tyres that is durable.

Used it for less than a month and i skidded quite a no of times compared to those middle type that i was using. So from then on after i changed to my R1, i decided not to use hard compound tyres after the many near accident experiences.

But then its really up to individual. For me, i still prefer soft compound tyres even though the wear and tear is alot faster. But i feel safer with them

Then it's very much up to you.

Tire technology has made many advancements over the years. I am not a pro in these matters. But the Maxxis sure can last for a long time and still not compromise grip. We call it hard compound because it's one of the longer lasting tires we've used thus far.

Yes. Rider preference is more important. You must feel comfortable with what you use. :thumb:

well the one minus factor of every kind of soft compound tyre is that it has no grip on wet surfaces :help:
