Hey guys!

A. Its been a long time since i posted here. Been real busy. Anyway, i wanna ask you guys for your thoughts and opinions with regards to my 2006 YBR125. My YBR COE will be expiring in early Jan 2016. So right now i am left with 2 years. My bike runs fine, just changed the old tires which was done in 01/2011 with the exact same mode (Metzeler ME22) in Dec 2013. that will last me until my COE expires.

B. However, there are some things that can be improved and fixed on my bike and i thought that you guys could point me in the direction on what i should change. I do not intend to renew the COE of my YBR, but i do intend to ride it until its COE expires, then scrap or sell it. Hell, i might even renew the COE but i think i'll be a little more stable by then to buy a newer, higher capacity bike.

C. These are the current issues i feel on my bike:-

1) The bike seat is worn out. Back when i started riding it years ago, it was comfy as hell. But now, the rider (not passenger) side feels flattened and after 10 min of riding, my butt hurts. 30 min of riding and my balls can be numb, the butthole feel like tearing. Haha. I also keep falling forward to the tank.

My question is, how long do bike seats usually last? Back when i bought the bike in 2009, the owner redid the seat if i am not wrong. I intend to get a nice comfy seat done up at Eugene Saddlery. Any ideas how much it will cost me? This one i will definately change for sure because everytime i ride, i can feel it. And i ride about 50km a day, 6 days a week minimum.

2) My front forks are leaking. I have always felt that the YBRs' forks were always super soft. In my case, a few months ago, i discovered that my right fork was leaking at the top, where the handlebar is. The fork is softer now, but still in working condition. I happen to have "left over rubber from ill-fitting fork boots designed for a CG125" to dampen the fork when it goes down all the way and i strongly believe that over the years, these simple rubbers, coupled with my tires have prevented me from having the "front wheel lock" problem i used to have.

Should i get my front forks serviced? My last service was on 01/2011. Right now, I feel that they do not pose as a serious issue as i am older now, i ride in a relaxed manner.

3) My top block is leaking a little, on the below part connecting it to the crankcase. I changed to a new piston, rebored my top-block and replaced the gaskets in 07/2011. I do not see this as an immediate problem as i believe that there should be no problems from now till the COE expires. You guys think it should be replaced?

D. I just wanna hear what you guys think about this. I wanna save as much money as i can, without compromising convenience and safety. The reason being is that i just started my career and i intend to get married in late 2015. By then, i should be more stable and get a larger scooter like perhaps a GTS200 or Silverwing, etc or even a small car.

E. I would actually do up the bike if my COE expired in 2017 or later, then it would make more sense that way. In addition to this, my bro and sis taking bike licence, but dunno how long i still waiting for them to pass but still never pass. I was thinking, do the bike up and throw it to them so they can use it. They wanna extend COE all up to them.

What do you guys think? I look forward to hearing from you guys.

Guys, I have no idea how to sell in the Garage Sales (Used Bike Section). It seems I have no permission to start thread. Why? Any kind soul can advise me how to post there?

Anyway, I need to sell of my YBR, unfortunately. Bike unused for 1 month already due to left hand fracture. Doc advise not to ride for around 4 to 6 months. I guess got to switch to clutchless.

FBA plate, 48L box, Road tax end: May 2014, COE End: May 2016.

Just changed coil, engine oil, spark plug, and rear brake during CNY eve week, then unlucky fracture during CNY eve during soccer match.

As bike unused for 1 month, today checked battery went flat but kickstart possible. Right signal, rear brake lights all died.

I'm letting go for $500. If no buyers, I prob get a shop to scrap for me soon cos I'm so immobile right now (MRT train).

Hi, just want to check about YBR battery replacement. What brand of battery is recommended and price? I just replaced mine with Shinko and cost me 40+. reasonable?

Hi Bros,

I am thinking of getting a YBR125. COE $4000 now :'( sob sob

How is the Fuel Consumption? Browse and seems very economical around 40+km/l

Is spare parts available & cheap? Any known problem and need constant maintainence?

Thanks

also consider yamaha jupiter 135. How is the spare part and maintanence vs ybr 125 or honda wave 125

thanks bro :) seems like YBR is really the way to go. I hear YBR spare parts is also easy to get and not expensive

Wave is another ideal bike for transportation too. Comes with a decent size under seat storage which is huge enough for 2 x raincoat, own tools, coupon eg. Wave is also capable to install a centre lockable box or basket for more storage too. Additionally, the bike requires very low maintenance and is very fuel saving! (I am getting 50-52km/ for my wave i model, carb model should be ard 40-45km/l ) and is very easy to maneuver ard too especially with the semi auto gearing system. Spare parts are also widely available locally, jb, thailand and Indonesia. The only down side compare to ybr is probably the power although both are 125cc. Wave top speed is btw 105-115km/hr.

Glad to have u in my life : ) Always love one another!

thanks bro. I am considering wave too.

Price wise YBR is cheapest ~8k, followed by T135 4speed auto. 5 speed T135 and Wave125 around the same price ~ 8.5k

Another concern is I am quite big size so not sure if it will be akward on T135 and Wave125.

Im also thinking of getting a YBR 125, but getting a 1st hand is just not logical to my finances. Any idea whr to find 2nd hand YBR 125? So far I've check autobay HLC & Unique Motorsports, they're not selling.
