This is what happen, Bro. While on my way to top up petrol after taking the bike out from TG, the orange CHECK light appeared. Thereafter while riding slowly at a traffic junction the engine just died suddenly. I start the bike and the Orange CHECK light appeared again. I headed straight to TG to have it check. At TG, they off the switch and restart again, the orange light disappear, and they told me its normal because this bike is fully electronic. Since this is my first scooter, i take it as they know better than me. Day after day i rode the bike, the Orange CHECK keeps on appearing. I noticed when im moving slowly towards a junction or trying to squeeze in between cars at slow speed, the orange CHECK light will appear and the engine will die of suddenly. Many times when this happen, I was caught in between vehicles or infront of a vehicle and the traffic light is green. Yes indeed, i receive alot of honking from the vehicle behind. There was 01 time when a rider followed me very closely and my bike engine died. Not aware that he was behind me, I pulled the brake to re-start the bike and thats when I saw he swerved his bike to my right and scolded me for jamming the brake. Well I guess, hes not aware that Im re starting my bike. So....I make my way back to TG and complaint about the performance of the bike and they started troubleshooting the problem. First they change the CDI of the bike, than spark plug, than battery......all of it was in vain. The orange CHECK light still appears and the engine will suddenly die when im moving slowly. Here the best part, one mrning while I was riding the bike to work, along SLE, the grey metal piece that was attached to the end of the exhaust pipe came off and broke. There were 4 screws attached to it and theyre all gone. Hahaha, I wonder what else will drop from this S3 bike. Afraid that the tyre will came off, instead of going to work, I went straight to TG to report the issue to them. the funny thing is that they told me, i could have cornered the bike so low that it hit the metal piece from the exhaust and broke it, hahahahahaha. I ended up not wanting to argue any further, and just accept the fact that this bike sucks big time. I reported the issue of the bike dying suddenly again to the mechanic and they told me that this bike needs to be plug in to a computer to scan for the problem and at TG they dont have such computer. They told me to make my way to JE coz they have the computer there. And so I make my way there. At JE, they plug in the computer to the bike and detected this "Camshaft Position Sensor" fault. Not knowing what is that they refer to their user manuals. I noticed they could not find the answer to the problem, and they decide to reset the bike settings. So everything is good, they told me, and no more problem. Very excited that the bike is finally cured, i immediately leaves the shop. Upon reaching the first junction, as i was moving slowly, the engine dies again and the orange CHECK light appear, WTF. I make a U-Turn, and headed back to the shop and showed them the orange CHECK light. They re-start the bike and try it themselve, at only 10 meters the bike died again. This time they told me, that the repair will have to take a few days because they have to check everything. Well it makes me wonder, as a consumer, what is my Legal right, when faced with this problem? I have asked them to replace me with a new bike but they told me its not possible. So what is possible? My job requires me to travel all around Singapore, I need my bike to accomplish that. This is not a 2nd hand purchase, its a Brand New bike. Any lawyers or wannabe lawyers, out there who care to shed some lights?

Thanks Bros for all your advice.

Anyway Ive received a call from a guy called Ronnie of KB, and he gave me his words. Should JE failed to cure the bike, he will have the bike towed to KB and get the guys at KB to have it thoroughly checked. During the repair period, he will compensate my transportation cost. Now thats a relief...., but I hope I dont have to go through this, cos Im not a fan nor am I familiar with taking public transportation. As for the metal piece that came off the exhaust pipe, he said he will get it replace at no cost. Now thats a 2nd relief......, thanks Ronnie.

By the way I received a call from JE, and they told me that the bike is ready for collection. Im keeping my fingers crossed now hoping that the bike is fully cured and safe to ride.

Do your rear light of s3 still on after u switch off your bike? Very dim red light!!

I had this problem recently and it's because of the water (raining season) that seep into the engine cut off switch resulting in short circuit. Tell the mechs to dismantle the switch and check

the more technology gizmos n gadgets they try to put into a bike, the more problematic it will b. bikes like honda cub n rxz can b running for yrs n yrs n yet hv very minimal prob. y? cos its as simple as bikes can get. so u auto gear? nice led lights? stylo keyless systems? then u will hv to b prepared for more problems.

I know that this is a Daelim thread but to be as truthful as possible to my own knowledge, SYM is definitely more powerful.

Comparison SYM vs Daelim

200cc 125cc

Yes, I know that s3 has some component which makes it abit more powerful than usual 125cc but it is still not as powerful as a 200cc(I presume that you are comparing with GTS 200). I'm not saying Daelim s3 is weak, in fact it is alright enough for sg roads, at least for my knowledge.

I'm also an ex Daelim rider, it is a good and reliable bike *(if only under the care of Cka hq especially Roy and team).

On other hand, SYM is also quite a good bike as well n parts are more accessible compared to s3 as SYM is a more common bike.

This is all I can help n my opinions, I'm not taking it to any side of the stand but the final decisions lie onto u.

Oh, so I see the main objective is to go for touring ya. Wad I can say is that I dun really encourage 2b bikes to go for touring (to Thailand etc). But if you really wan to take 2b bikes to touring, then you can really forget abt s3, because no matter wad, it is better getting a 200cc for touring than a 125cc.

I personally feel that burgman 200 will be not bad, but correct me if I'm wrong, the repair cost of burgman 200 will be a little on the high side as it is not that common in Sg as stated on one of the site. yes Suzuki is a common brand in Sg but this is a automatic scooter u talking about, not those common bikes in sg, thus the parts n stuff will be a little more ex.

If you possess a 2A, I would encourage u to get SYM Joymax 300i as wad I'm riding, as it's engine is better to go for touring than 2b bikes, it saves money as well. (SYM is seriously still maybe not as establish as Honda n stuff but it is also quite common in sg, I've seen more SYM on road than on Kymco or Daelim.) The FC is great, while runnin in, I did 30km/l for a 2A bike. N after run-in, I think it will get better.

But if you really want a 2b Maxi scooter, then go for SYM gts 200, as it is more common as compared to other maxi scooter, like s3, kymco, burgman n stuff, thus it is more cheaper to maintain. I didn't ride a gts 200 b4, but my joymax 300i is alr doing 30km/l while running in, I can't imagine gts 200 fc.

Btw I'm also keen in touring n stuff, maybe one day we sbf maxi scooter riders can organise one.

Yo, just posted to a place thats why very busy with the backlogs left behind by my predecessor. All to riders, so far no major and recurring problems except for

1) cant start due to sidestand short circuit (solved)

2) jerking upon moving off due to moisture (solved)

3) Rear light on when ignition is off due to engine cut off switch spoiled (solved)

4) LED light spoiled which is common (solved by replacement)

Things i might do (both already done by firestation)

1) K&N filter (improve pickup)

2) Some mod to the exhaust (improve speed)

As for top speed, i have not tried but before i clocked 3k mileage, already tried 110km/hr. The fastest i clocked is 120 and i believe this bike can hit 130 but gonna take longer due to slow pickup

Erm... to my knowledge and what I saw from the registration, GTS200 is actually 170cc. If you notice, the logo is GTS2.00, just a model name...

It was mentioned in this thread earlier that the warrant for GTS200 is only 3 months, not sure which bike shop quoted it. Like SYM7, I bought the S3 not only for the good looks, but also due to the 2 years unlimited mileage that really gives me peace of mind. All in all, with the long Daelim history and 100% parts support, it feels good to ride this DOHC 125cc scooter. Like Kchiong said, 130kmh is definitely achievable.

I agree with you that parts are not readily available thats because CKA doesn't appoint dealers, only Heng Motor, as I was told. But with 4 outlets I don't see a problem.

I also agree that Kaki Buit the head office is more professional in trouble-shooting and after-sales service.. hmm maybe hq side can communicate better I guess, All of them so young haha..

Hey Suhaimi, glad to hear your bike problem is solved, hopefully it doesnt persists. And thanks for being the first to experience this, now we have a precedent haha...
