Hi guys. Just wondering, would you guys rather purchase a X1R brand new or 2nd hand? Heres a scenario:

1) 2.6k OTR 2nd hand bike, with nothing much, majority stock.

2) 7k+ OTR(depending on your insurance. Cost is based on my own insurance for my age n riding experience), comes with Battlax tyre, BMC air filter, free 12mth servicing, Racing boy footrest, Leovince exhaust system, 2 helmets(good for me as im using my bike to pillion my gf).

Personally i would prefer a brand new bike. I have no idea when i will change bike again and personally i love to clean, maintain and service my own bike(so emotions will get attached to my bike). I dun like to throw bike at mechanic whenever it has problems, unless its engine and gearbox related whereby i have no experience in, so i doubt i will change bike anyknowhow(experience came from my cycling hobby). What do u guys think?

I think u already have an answer to your question. Get a new bike, u will ride that bike for a longer if u love your bike. Don't buy a 2nd hand one then start to regret.

Hahaha funny thing is. If i get a 2nd hand i might even love it more. My friend's Y125Z is ridden with small problems, so i helped him fix together. Gradually over time i began to like his 125z. XD

Get a first hand won't regret. 4 stroke is much complicated when it's problematic.. haha.. I also do my servicing and maintenance on my first hand spark.. also love it.. cos I know how it is ridden from the start..

How u guys do your own servicing? Where do u dispose the used engine oil? I would prefer to change the engine oil myself if possible.

As for me, I got myself a very cheap Wave S and do a overhaul. Change the cover set, and wheels. At least I know it'll be well taken care of after I rebuilt it. Now I ride with joy, and yet I save a lot of $$$.

Read somewhere you just bring the oil to motor diam and they have oil tanks/container for you to dispose your used 4T :)

Please do that. Dont even think of disposing elsewhere. Its big hefty fine if you are caught disposing chemical agents other then authorize places without license.

your name is spark 135 why do you want to get xr1?

haha, anyway get 2nd hand la. insurance is cheaper also since bike is older.

if you can pay everything in one shot, maintenance will be easy

assuming the 2nd hand bike you brought is in decent condition of course.

and you might want to change to 2a in the near future :thumb:

if you can afford a new bike comfortably, i think that will be a better choice from your writing and the shop offer.

otherwise, just get a 2nd hand. still try to get a new one since you do not intent to change. let the bike grow with you. haha...
