I give thumbs up to :

1) CBR 600

2) R6

3) GSXR 600

But R6 can be used 4 racetrack as it was already stated in bikes magazine.. No wonder malaysian loved to steal R6 so much. So do take care of R6 bike if u buy !

Currently 600 sportsbike r more track oriented.... actually any bike (maybe not cruiser) can use for racetrack

it seems to me, price-wise, r6 lowest priced of the four hands-down. but i'm getting confused as to which of the other 3 is most expensive, when include insurance and stuff.

ppl always say kawa insurance very ex. then ppl also say cbr machine price most ex. then gsx is just plain ex.

would someone pls clarify the price issue and wat these 'ppl' say please, thank you very much. i'd like to know. a list of machine prices comparing the 4 plus typical insurance would be very helpful.

btw, the cbr6 not comfortable, but how much of an issue is it, based on ppl who own it? does it get in the way of the 'enjoyment', or tolerable just that less comfort than the rest?

thanx again.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

u can't possibly get the best of everything yah? get what u deem suit your riding style and of course, try to find a balancing point between comfort and performance. =) but i'm like u, i don't know what to get.. it's more of the handling vs power thing.

I actually moved this post from "Anyone Getting 05' CBR600R Tread" to here.

Errrh ... excuse ... this is just a question ... ...

I love to test drive/ride all kind of cars and bikes. 600cc supersports bike has never been a bike in mind I want to own.

Most people feedback said 600cc good for track, PG not sepang track, if just for fun doesn't matter. Road tax and insurance cheaper than 750/1000 class (no doubts about it). Power is enough why bigger ... ... ?

But again, most people did not make good use in track or go often or even never ... ... Say power enough later change to 1000cc, I encountered a few.

In the best of my knowledge, high revving engine needs instensive care and this gonna poke a hole in your pocket. As street + fun end user is not constructive. If got $ to throw of course OK ... ... Other than that, most hardwares, maintainence and stuff is almost on par with 750/1000. Petrol consumption also.

In the end, could be better wait and save abit more to go for bigger cc or maybe not, I don't know.

Sorry, just a open disccussion, don't mean to offence anyone.

Thinking back, why do you need the power of a 1,000cc to travel in Singapore? Owning a 600cc bike doesnt necessary means the need to take it for track. Then again. how often does a 1,000cc bike goes for distance travelling then? So why the need to save up for a 1,000cc bike instaed of a 600cc bike.

Thats my own opinion. Cheers

Before i get my 1000, i m torned between a 600 and 1000.

I m lucky to be able to test ride a few bikes of either class which allows me to know what i really want.

Initially, i dun feel any difference between a 600 and a 1000.

But as i get more tries, when my body start to get use to the speed and torque, the difference became bigger and bigger.

Finally, i decided on the 1000 is becos, it is easiler to ride as a little twist of throttle will make me feel like gliding on the ice skate ring(i m a lazy bum, thats why i like this service from the 1000), as if i weight like a feather(70kg and increasing..).

I also dun need to change gears too often in slow moving traffic situation.

Been riding a CBR600RR this few days.

I only feel the difference between a 400 and 600 is when the rev is over 5k rpm.

So if u wanna ride the 600 with power, u got to ride it in the power range in order to really feel the difference between a 400 and 600.

I found that the difference between 600 and 1000 is not in the HP, but in the torque.

But once the 600 gets into its midrange, the power is unleashes.

And 1 thing is u can ride the 600cc in 6th gear without over speed limit and most of the time. This will inturn save fuel and unwanted troubles from the White. This is 1 good reason to get the 600, as a 1000 is sure a torquey bike.

When getting the 1000, u need to train ur left hand as u need to clutch in alot in slow moving traffic.

But its just like getting used to riding a sportbike when u just pass from the road bike in driving centre.

Temperature goes up slower.

Engine of current 600 is smooth and sounds like the 1000 but with lower roar.

All in all, the only difference in a 600 and 1000 is the torque.

And what u get is the pros and cons of the having more or less torque.

Maintainance of this 2 class is the very very much the same.

But cost and taxes is another issue then.

If can, i still think that it is best to get the 1000.

Dun say what can use the full power of the 600 or 1000 anot, cos i dun think anyone will always stay in the rpm 1k before the redline zone 50% of his rides, on even a 200cc bike bah.

Go for the 1000 if situation permits.

If not, the 600 is also a good bike. :thumb:

The new 05' R6 looks like it will be among the top contenders for engine performance, closely matching even the cheating 636, as far as Sport Rider mag dyno is concerned.

04 636: 111.4hp @12.75k (no data yet for 05')

05 CBR RR: 108.4hp @13.5k

04/05 G6: 103.4hp @13.25k

05 R6: 110.9hp @13k

http://sportrider.com/bikes/dynos/

I know mag dynos are not the last word on true performance, but the general relative difference is usually quite true, sportrider has reasonably truthful trackrecord. It is interesting that Yamaha has managed to catch up with 37cc less, especially from traditional hp kings like Kawa. Makes me want one! They've made the handling less sharp though.

I will go for CBR600R or R6.

I think its more maintenance friendly and more value for money than Kawasaki.

just my opinion.
