You guys are crazy. 160km/h on trunk roads?? I only dare to do 160 at the Nilai-KLIA stretch, only because the road is wide, got 4 lanes, not many vehicles using it, and brightly-lit. :sian:[/b]

Unfortunately, she's not too happy abt me riding a bike. In fact, she still can't get over the fact that I put down the dpayment one week b4 our engagement, and not telling her abt it. The worse is I still didn't tell her until one week after our ROM. I know, I deserves to be scolded. But I just don't want anything to stop me from realising my dream. I dropped some signals to ppl close to me abt getting a bike and the responses I get was....negative. That's why I had to do it covertly, until it's too late! hahahahahahah.

I used to ride a 125cc Yamaha scrambler when i was still studying. Then while I was in uni, I went on an off-road trip. Dunno how I ride, jumped over something and landed badly. I cracked the engine block but I didn't know it, managed to get home and then only realise. My parents took the chance to stop me from riding, they refuse to help me fund the repair. So, I stopped riding...until now. I know I'm bad-lah, coz it's like revenge getting a bike without telling anybody. But it's me, I just love to ride. And now that I'm working and don't have to depend on anybody for $$$ liao, I can finally rekindle my passion.

And what an expensive passion. While typing this post, Kriss (PML) just called me to inform me a couple of things abt my bike that he's concerned abt. Did some quick calculation, think the bill will go to abt 1K. But for peace of mind, and since he said parts replacement will get me 2-year warranty but repair got no guarantee, I told him to go ahead. I'm not a very technical person, so I just had to trust him this time. I guess that's one of the downside of getting a pre-owned. Ai yah, done liao, no need to brood over it. Treating it like an overhaul for Bertha. I'm happy, the bike will be happier with new parts as well. ha ha ha

Ooi! Shoot first and ask question later....heh heh...... thats right, once bikikg gets into the blood, there's no stopping it :thumb:

Did you ask Chriss if you can be present when they work on youe bike?? This is also the first time that I'll be dealing with PML's workshop so I'm not sure of their protocol. I'm in the engineering line and naturally curious about such things. Some workshop are quite sensitive about such things and prefer that you not be around.

I asked. He said customers are not allowed to talk to the mechanic while they're working on your bike. If anything, you can talk to him (Kriss). I asked can I take half a day off and see them working on my bike, he said can. But they won't let customers go and disturb the mechanics lah. We can sit at the lounge or stand outside the working bay and see lah. He said if I want to, i can do that, and he will be the one talking to me, brief me on the characteristic of my bike, etc. But, he said it won't be a half-day job lah. He said it will take whole day. Tat's why didn't take the day off. I sent it in early morning. Supposed to get it this evening, but he called to say they need more time because of the few parts that need to be replaced. So, gng to collect it tomorrow instead.

I dunno what exactly are they replacing. I remember on top of the usual things they do for 10,000 km, they also got additional checks for every 20,000km cycle (which my bike already 'qualifies', it's 85,000km now). Then they will be changing the throttle cable (never been changed since the bike was sold to 1st owner), clutch cable, rear tyre valve (which he was very alarmed abt, said that it's coming lose, it's a time bomb), and my front brake lever (starting to have brake fluid corrosion). I dunno exactly the name of the parts lah, I'm still clueless. I'll talk to him again tomorrow. And he also showed me my rear brake pad, almost touching the disc already. He said, by right all the braking power shd be channelled to the front tyre. Use rear brake only during emergency or when slow-moving. The pad was changed during the prev service. I think he's trying to be tactful and not make me feel bad, coz he didn't tell me directly to change my wrong riding technique. hahahaha.

Hi Guys, heres' me second writeup on riding the GS. Was too excited when I posted the first one so the thoughts were all over the place...hee hee..

So from the top, approaching the bike at standstill, you'll notice that it is rather bulky at the front and rather sparce at the rear. I spent the first day riding the bike without any panniers and me friend describe it like I was riding a waq, you know the wolf like creature in LOTR, all muscle in front, nothing behind. Adding the panniers balanced up the overall package.

Front screen was set to mid level and the wind blast can be felt just over me helmet. I don't sit too upright, a little hunch actually, old sportbike habit.

Getting the bike off the main stand is easy. However, the main stand is rather narrow so gotta be cautious. I found that I need to put my right foot in front of the main stand to prevent it sliding forward if the ground is smooth. Sidestand as mentioned before, doesn't offer much assurance.

Ignition on and the bike goes thru a powerup check and pressing the starter fires up the engine on the first crank...neat. There's a choke available but I'm not sure why there should be one since its not on carb...... strange these German engineers.o_O

Let the engine warm up a little or else I found that I need to double clutch to get first gear in on a cold engine. Once the engine is running at temperature, gear changes are smooth and accurate, much better than me old FJR, no Ka-Chang noise here.

First gear pulls cleanly but engine sounds rough once this gear is held onto approaching 3500rpm. 2nd and 3rd feels smooth till 4500rpm...needs more running in here. 4th is good and 5th is silky smooth, you'll only hear the slow chuk chuk chuk of the engine's heartbeat, very nice. Not much chance for 6th though. Engine braking is very apparent from 3rd downwards and bike starts to lurge a little upon reaching 1500rpm.....more running in required. Engine braking at 4th, 5th and 6th is more linear.

The bike response to crosswind is adequate. It managed to hold its line unless the gust is extremely strong. Received a couple of strong ones along TPE and on top of Shears' but its allright. Side draft from big vehicles is not an issue here.

For braking, squeeze the front slowly and the initial bite of the servo assisted brake is apparent, pull a little more and you'll feel as if someone just threw an anchor down thats chained to the bike. Very strong braking here, but totally predictable. The rear brake on the other hand is rather non existance but that also allows you to trail brake into a turn, to slide the rear a little...heh heh... my rear rim is now full of brake dust.

Now for the most important aspect of this bike, how does it turns?!! First lets talk a little about the suspension, this para-tele-lever thingie. 2 clicks towards hard from medium sorted out the rear spongyness and front was left at factory setting. What I notice was that unlike conventional forks, it doesn't dip as you enters a turn, it doesn't load up. My first few fast turn was a little unerving, the front felt light and probably due to muscle memory from past ride, my elbows starts to bend in anticipation of the front end loading up and when that doesn't happen, its a very strange an detach sort of sensation. I've now gotten more used to this and am able to turn with more confidence. Mine you, it has nothing to do with the bike, it tracks beautifully round the turn, its the new rider that has to get his head around this and let the bike do the work. Lets see, a couple of turns worth mentioning.... BKE to KJE, PIE (from Airport) to Tampines New Town, PIE(after Steven's) to Adam Road, Airport Boulevard to PIE...Wuhuahuahua!!!! This bike tracks like me old RS125, totally awesome! :thumb:

So there we have it, the new GS..... need more running in to release more potential, more tweaking to settle the suspension and probably a new can to free up the vocals but overall.......... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Need 1 more ride to clock 1K, first servicing next week and then.... liberation! :cheer: :cheer: :lovestruck:

i think after polish u might experience small "cracked" effect under sun but invisible @ night.it happens to my previous bike but may not on BMW as e shield is thick or try it if u intend to replace.

try using polygaze's Diamond Polish....

i tried it on my St11 windscreen.. no after effects... cleans up all the "fogginess"... so shiny n smooth after use.... i used it tog with polygaze "glide-on-glaze" after the diamond polish..

Lor Bekukong car park.

It won't be just Ashenz and me.

SDR and a couple others will be there too :thumb:

If I'm the first one to reach, I'll find myself a nice bright spot, preferably right under one of the street lamps, to park.
