‘NEW’ LAND SPEED RECORD

Willie Hodgeson, San Jose BMW

164.11 mph

(1978 Air Cooled, 1000cc, Pushrod, BMW Flat Twin (2) Cylinder on Pump Gas)

Previous Record (held by Willie) 155mph

Willie broke that Record on Tuesday to 162.3 mph

Broke his own (New) Record on Thursday to 164.11 mph

Not bad for a 1978 R100 RS Air head engine. This bike has run well over 100 runs at Bonneville, raced the Airhead invitational at Barber two years in a row with Brian Catterson as the pilot and won 1st both times BTW, raced dozens of other West Coast races with Eron Floy and others piloting. The last time the lower end was even looked at was in 1992. The damn thing seems to be bullet proof and it is the loudest motorcycle that I have ever heard.

Good Show :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Hi Slayer,

Dun think you are here to slay anyone here in the forum I suppose. But i guess the people in this particular community are people who has a common purpose. Which is, for the love of riding. It's not about the motorcycle or type of motorcycle each individual rides and I storngly think the rest of the guys here would agree. The Spirit of riding bonds most of us here. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/FazeGabes/EMOTICON/ricky.gif Be it tech talk, debates and personal opinions, it all boils down to respecting each other very different opinions and outlook about minor/major things in our lives.

It just gets better that how we people here like the make of a BMW motorcycle and the joy it gives us. There are many arguments on how the $ spent on this machines is worth it or not worth it. The misunderstanding of this unspoken passion has also caused numerous conflicts and arguments, which is a real pity. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/FazeGabes/EMOTICON/pillepalle.gif

Most of us still love other makes/brands of motorcycles as you can see the numerous amounts of pictures of other bikes we post in this thread. We basically just love bikes and love riding. There isn't any classification of people here except maybe just the thread topic "Info on BMW Motorcycles". We definitely did not comply to the thread topic as you noticed by now, we laugh, talk, ORGLE at other fantastic brands of motorcycle. The moderators should be kicking our butts anytime soon. We really ORGLE..... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/FazeGabes/EMOTICON/Just_Cuz_30.gif

Enjoy ur new toy! :goodluck: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v210/FazeGabes/EMOTICON/ylsuper.gif

Lets see now, a 4inch hole on the right knee and 2 broken toes on the left...... Like Rossi, Capirossi and Melandri who rode thru the pain barrier and persevere to the end, he has my utmost respect http://www.absolutepunk.net/images/smilies/new/dweeba48.gif
