that jumper guy mentioned bout his fren who sold a clean '99 rt1100 for $3.5K.get out of here!... and what's funny he's asking $3K for a LT12! who is he kidding?

talking bout LT12,there was a laid-up one at Dili couple of mths back.was sold at $4000+ and owner had it repaired at agent. dili's boss said the repair costs came to a whopping $7000 and 3 mths in the shop! damn :giddy:

Looks like he's trying to pull off a fast one ... a good condition RT11 for 3.5K sounds too good to be true ... either that or the seller was desperate to let it go ... sold my 96' RT11 fully accessorized for 9k and I thought that was low ...

Can't help you there with Mah, but I am sure that you can braided hoses fitted at Vector 1 or BikeLab.

GS should be the easier beemers to do, not much fairing panels to remove.

Cheers

I am dreaming of one these as well – just need to convince the wife on what a brilliant idea it would be to have one of these ;o)

I am new to Singapore so I am still getting up to play with taxes and COE and all that - but could someone explain to me why this machine costs $10K more here in Singapore than in my home country in New Zealand? Is the import tax?

As mentioned above here Singapore it costs $28.7K and at the current exchange rate you can get it in NZ for just under $19.5K which includes a higher GST rate of 12.5%!?

Check out the price list here:

By "jerking" you mean surging? if so then it should have nothing to do with the clutch. Likely a tuning problem. I would go back to basics, clean air filter first, then see how.

I installed the QDs half an hour ago, fuel sprayed on my safety goggles from the hose when I cut them using my kitchen shears even I pinched the hoses using a proper hose pinch. Murphy’s law says when a hose spray fuel, it will spray right into your eye.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v198/Phang/DSCN5932.jpg

Bling bling but bulky and heavy as compared to the stock plastic QDs, got to find a way to secure these 2 chunk of metal so that it won't rub around and cut some wire, hose, etc.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v198/Phang/DSCN5936.jpg

close up - no hose clamp, will the hose slip out from the QDs tonight and drain 20 liter of fuel on the car park floor?

Things went smoothly until I wanted to tighten the hose clamps. The hose clamps from beemerboneyard are undersized and cheaply made. I will get some nice stainless steel clamps as shown in the last 2 photos tomorrow and junk those came with the QD set.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v198/Phang/DSCN5939.jpg

hose clamp from beemerboneyard is a tight fit BEFORE the insertion of QD

These are BMW clamps, anyone know the part number?

It the mark up by the distributer, namely PML, that explain the high price of the bike.

I think the import tax only make up of 15 to 30% of the OMV price of the bike.

Done but not entirely satisfied with my work. The bulkiness of the metal QDs and protruding bolt of the hose clamps made me feel uneasy.

This is the best orientations of the hose clamps that I could figure out. Leaving a tight margin around the metal parts surrounded by wires, hoses, cables etc.

Phang, so quick? ....

Just my thots (tho I do not have the benefit of seeing it first-hand) I reckon the clamps on the lower hose in the pic can be turned around such that the nuts' tops are showing instead of the undersides? Wld hide the clutter somewhat. All in all I would say a job really well done. :) BTW, put some glue on the telelever cap covers; they can come out after a while after the O-ring loosen.

Mamat, the answer really depends on purpose for the bike, how long you want to keep, etc. many factors. Seriously contemplating? :) Either one is a pretty bike.

just wondering...would u consider the 800 or a 1200GS of the same price?

If they were both the same price, w/o doubt, the 1200 would be the one.

Ride long dist, go off road, endless highways, the 1200 can do it all.

Spares and accessories for it are widely available world wide.

Breakdown in any country and I bet 1200 spares are easier to find than the 800.

Most people go through life following the crowd.

Others think for themselves.

Just curious...

would u get the new F800GS or a 1200GS of the same price?

depend on your interest inclined to chain or shaft driven and boxer or non-boxer, it will make it easier for you to decide..... as the rest feature, more aless quite close

pre-owned will not cause so much pain if suddenly your interest changed.... or new model coming out, or so called your dream bike......

It would depend on what I wanted it for. The 1200 is a big bike whilst the 800 is more nimble. If purely for touring I would go for a 1200 at the same price no issue, but many in Singapore also want to ride to work and cutting through traffic on a 1200 with panniers would be a challenge. Not impossible, but more likely to touch a mirror or two on the way through.

A 1200 at the same price would be second hand. Most second hand bikes in Singapore are in pretty good condition but that is the other thing to look out for, has it been serviced properly etc.

Just my 20c.

...too many to list

Hi F650GS brothers.. just wondering if any of you guys had done any modifications on your stock exhaust? There seems to be this additional 'metal clinging' noise in my exhaust which is bothering me. I think the noise comes from the baffle plate in the exhaust. Kinda inexperienced and not confident to strip my exhaust to verify. Any suggestions fellow riders?

Nice!

But quite abit of wasted space between the panniers and the bike itself!

Easy 5cm each side adds up to a 10cm wider bike, not good for lane splitting and maybe added drag on when touring will not be favourable.
