The problem is the my bro's bike (GS 1100) has this loud backfire on stationary position and slightly lower when changing gear. It's rather loud and worrisome, so we were wondering what causes it.

Backfiring would indicate a fuel / air mix "problem". I have it as well on my Y-pipe / aftermarket pipe outfit and does not worry about it. Some attribute backfiring to an inadequate sealing of the exhaust system, some have solved the backfiring using a fuel injection module. I would, as always, go back to basics, clean out my filter and check my manifolds. You may want to have your bike checked out for peace of mind. I wish that I can offer more advice, but this is beyond me.

To the R850R / R1100R fellas, there is a chap parting out an R850R in the States; he can be contacted at [email protected] if you are looking for parts to buy. I do not know him, just came across his ad.

Cheers

Dear coolcat thanks a lot. Hopefully we will find the source.

Again thanks:thumb:

I just love the looks, feel and sound of an old good Guzzi, though it has been around since the time of my Grandfather. I guess "they" don't do things like that anymore! Well it's not true.

Anyone here riding a Bmw bike with grip warmer ?

Is the grip different from the normal BMW grip as it is slightly longer or bigger due to the warmer ?

Hi, used to ride a 650gs with grip warmer. When I replacing the rubber grip I have to purchase a 1100 grip. Think it is better to consult the spares counter when buying replacement.

Hey thank man, so that means there are different types of Bmw grips.

I just purchase the bmw grip from M tecnik den I DIY on my fjr end up im able to use one side only. Worse is that the grip is short from the my original grip.

Now i have to look for a bigger grip.

This is a very nice ride with a reasonable price tag for a BMW in Singapore. May get one next year so gotta look out what are the color schemes available then :). Currently, I like the "bumblebee" scheme. Very unique and definitely a head turner.

Hi to all,

Can a Staintune Exhaust used on R1150RT be used on R1100RT?

Any modification needed?

Please advise.

Thanks.

Check with Joe of Sporting Motor; see if Leo Vince end-can for R1150Rt and R1100Rt the same. If I am not wrong the mid-pipe is different, R1100 has an "S" pipe while the R1150 has a "Y" pipe.

Hiya,

Yes, I know that you are referring to the Staintune systems. What I meant is that you may want to check with Joe whether they use the same end-cans for Leo Vince. If the diffreent models, then there is a good chance that the Staintune willbe interchangeable too. Contact Staintune directly to clear all doubts; they have quite a comprehensive website.

Good luck.

For me, I trust Combine Motor at Sin Ming Autocare #02-21 and Perfection Motor at 1044 Eunos to maintain or fix my bike.
