Hi everyone at this thread... I saw bro Weird selling his bmw r1100rt. I tried pm him for discussion as I am interested in getting one for myself, hoping to join you all for gathering and touring trips.

May I humbly ask if anyone here knows the status of the sale of his RT? or has he withdrawn the sale. Appreciate if anyone who knows him to pass the message to him for him to contact Jimmy at 81182653. thanks a lot.

Wat do U mean?? U were mentioning that while riding, there was some loud tud sound in the engine... ?? but the Mechs are able to est $10K to replace the while engine, but NOT able to tell U whats wrong/happened??? o_Oo_O:?

for all U know, it might have been the Mech's oversight when he first did the bike, n declared it OK to be brought out...?? :nono::nono:

Thats why I'd always stick to one Mech, and if things go wrong, I'd demand an answer, and they cant shirk their responsibilities!! :argue::angry:

Hi Jimmy

Bro wierd's RT1100 shares the same MSCP as mine. I see him quite often. If you're really interested I can pass him the message. By the way I used to own that same RT before selling it away.

Hi all,

Currently, my R1100R is using original BMW battery. It has not been changed since I bought this bike 2+ years ago. I'm thinking of buying a new one and charge myself using a trickle charger.

I read from a US magazine sometimes back that the 1st charge is the most important. If you do not charge it fully the first time, the battery will not be able to have a full charge from then on, no matter how hard you try.

Do local shops take care to make sure the battery is full before they install on the bike? In the past when I sent my bike to service and change the battery, the shop will call to say bike ready for collection a few hours later.

I am a noob so here are some dumb questions (maybe).

1) When the shop open a new battery and pour in the battery acid, is there any charge?

2) If no, can you fully charge a new battery in a few hours? Or do shops force charge the battery to save time?

3) When you buy a new hand phone, you need like 8~10 hrs to have a full charge right? So I assume you should leave a bike battery over-night to ensure a full charge using a trickle charger?

Well, since I have a trickle charger I am thinking of buying a battery from the dealer and installing myself.

Are all of you using original BMW battery? What other brands are available in Singapore?

Another question.

I tried removing my old battery just now. It was a mess. There were 4 wires connected to the positive end and another 4 to the negative. I took care to scotch tape them together but in the effort to raise the tank and slide the battery out, the battery got entangled with the wires and pulled them all apart. Now there are eight wires dangling and I hope I don't connect them wrongly when I put my battery back.

Since I intend to install an alarm there will be even more wires in future. Can anyone advice me if there are shops or individuals that know how to clean up using a relay or something so that the place look neater, and only one wire is connected to each pole of the battery?

Hi currypuff,

You can install a busbar to the +ve and -ve battery terminals. Here is an example.

Hi Phang,

That is really neat except for the below problems.

1) May have difficulty finding space to fit it

2) A bit over-the-top

3) Selling in S'pore?

Anyway, for those interested, go to here

Other than getting something like the busbar to clean up the wiring, someday I also wish to replace the wires as the rubber cover of many have hardened or even disintegrated (chui-chui). As I am not an electrician, I'm looking for a good shop to do it. If someone is willing to guide me, then I don't mind getting my hands dirty and also pay the 'tuition fees'. :)

Come to think of it, if there is an electrical wizard here, maybe those of us who would like to have more hands-on can gather for a session to learn how to do up our own bikes.

After the session, everyone make a 'donation' to the trainer. How about that?

congrats on getting a bm. however, in this world, you pay peanuts u get monkey, so be careful when paying you decide where to go to when you decide to get your bike fixed.

places to go and get the bike sorted are perfection motor at paya lebar area or at PML. there are other alternatives as well so ask around.

Hi ysyjona,

This is a car/motorcycle specific power distribution block, I don’t think you can find it in Sim Lim.

Congrats on your new bike, which R1150 you bought? :thirsty:
