'adoption' fees? or deposit?

anyway for non singapore registered bikes, i do not think they will have any issue with the 5k thingy eg ride from UK to SG... just those PI registered in singapore.

Is it feasible to ride the beemer to work everyday? Would maintenance be high or are would I be paying a very high premium to

BMW's are technologically advanced machines and the bikes are BMW's showcase to the world of how far they push their motorcycling technology. As such you pay for what you get when you buy the bike and also be prepared to "pay" for riding the machine.

The main reason's why bikes break down is primarily because owners skimp on maintaining their machines.

General care for the machine is not extremely expensive, mineral oil for service 3-5k km, shaft and gearbox oil every 2 yrs or 40k km and that should be it on a regular basis. Fork oil maybe at abt the same intervals as well.

Wear and tear on the bike should be taken into account for example, shocks and brake lines should be dying by 70k km as well as the wheel bearings and possibly the steering cone bearings. brake pads are relatively cheap for brembo's but if you go EBC HH and get them yourself from overseas they are not too expensive as well. i have ridden my mates BMW where the brake lines failed suddenly and it was not a nice experience.

there are clearly fewer BMW's on the roads than their jap equivalents and as such the cost of manufacturing their replacement parts are clearly going to costs more due to economies of scale. an example here would be the starter motor or the huge alternator for newer bikes as well as the ABS unit.

hope this helps......

ard 3 months.

I got mine in Jan and too looked around for a couple of months. Lotsa luck for u! The base GS model is much easier to find. Not many people is willing to sell as its the best 'basic & simple' model prior to all the advance technologies 1200s have. I prefer the simpler way, personally. The 1150GSA is close to extinction and demands a premium, almost impossible to find!

That's low miles on a more than 10 years bike. 12k is pretty reasonable.

Maintenance isn't as high as u thought. Parts could be a little more expensive. Main concern is to get a good condition bike and prevent the high cost of replacing things like clutch, gearbox, etc. The boxer is a simple engine.
