Hey by the way anyone know where can I find Sargent seat in Sg for my R12St?? Is this kind of aftermarket seat good??

Am using one on my GSA b'cos after changing out to Ohlins my seat ht increased and became a little bit uncomfortable.

I have no problem with e OEM seat until the change to Ohlins.

What i can say is that the Sargent seat reverted back the GSA original seat ht and it is physically broader & the shape give better support and comfort for longer rides.

I am very happy with the Sargent seat purchase but everyone have a different Butt, what works for me may not work for others.

I ordered my Sargent seat online.

I don't think there is anybody in particular dealing in Sargent seat in Sg.

If any of you guys order a Sargent seat it is advisable to get a Normal one as the Low version is said to be uncomfortable as feedback from guys who bought the Low version.

Hi, has anyone installed a power commander for bikes before? My bike feels jerky at certain revs, and I read that have power commander might help.

By the way, I', riding a R1100RT.

Do yourself a favour by getting the valve clearance checked and re-check!! :cheeky:

I found this out myself after re-adjusting the valves clearance and rocker arms!

My bike now perform like a charm at low and high rev... bearly feeling and vibration!

It will totally transform your bike and bring you to another level of understanding for the boxer engine!

Actually I just did a service with valve clearance at PML. Should I check with them again let them know that the bikes still feel a bit jerky? Is there something else I should do besides the valve clearance?

I think this piece of shiit is gonna be more awesome than Super Tenere 1200. :p

Many others can say all they want

but I am quite sure BMW R1200GS is still gonna be the KING in the end of the day. :p

The current GS has never won a Paris Dakar or any other off road event.

Both the previous editions of the super ten and the africa twin has won the PD but i also doubt if they are able to recapture that crown with their current models.

Whilst the GS maybe the King of the "Road" as described/voted by both the journalist/public via the various online/print magazines, i doubt it will ever be the King of the Dunes, like its great great great grand daddy, the venerable r80/100gs!

Very likely the valves spec is not there... is there a loud tappy valve sound??

There are several factors can cause bike to jerk,

getting PML to check is definitely a good thing to do

but I wonder they could able to solve the problems for you.

They are more a so called human robots,

can only use what they have to diagnose,

change complete assembly when there is a problem

and of course normal servicing.

Lastly, charge a high premium and you pay to roll out your bike.

Soon roll in and charge you again. :p :p :p

The high premium is what I'm afraid of...so I'm hoping to find out as much as I can before sending it in.

I've read from bmwsporttouring website that quite a number of RT have this jerkiness or surging issue, and some of them managed to solve it by installing power commander.

Anyone here experienced the same jerkiness and how did you solve it? And anyone installed power commanders on their before? Any feedback?

So far no loud tappy valve sound. But the jerkiness is more evident for 1st and 2nd gear. When go up to speed like 70-100 km, the jerkiness is gone.

valve clearance. how much did that cost you? i'm on RT too..

I think the Italian design looks better than both the gs n super ten.. It the all new multistrada 1200s!!!

I'm q GSA 1200 supporter still... Future GSA owner I hope. Or maybe try a ducati for a change.

Anyway both bm n duc have lousy agent here... Haiz may just stick with this bm st n service it with my current excellent mech @ auto point amk lvl 5.

Strictly speaking none of the GS had ever won the PD; the winning Dakar bikes were very different from the production models. Perhaps the sole exception is Jutta Kleinschmidt's machine, for she who won a ladies' Dakar event on a largely stock R100GSPD (bar shock and perhaps the mandatory water-carrying tank requirements to pass scruinteering. The present oilheads took part in the guise of the R900RR (I think in 2000 or 2001) but those ran on carbs; and later the rules excluded the twins from the competition.

It is also likely that the Dakar Yamahas and the ATs were modified for the rally, in engine capacity and/or frame as well.

I do recall that the HP2 won the Erzberg Rodeo at its first try, which I think is a true testament to the bike and rider when the field consists of the world's best off-road / trials / trail riders and lighter machines.

99% is tight valves.... I face the same problem as you when i first did my own valve clearance... too tight.

If you are hands on type, it will be damn easy to do it yourself...

The source of surging on the oilheads are well-documented and seems to be commonplace.

I think that some part of it is due to riders of other marques crossing over to the boxers and getting used to the bikes. Surging is usually addressed by installing a crossover pipe with or without an aftermarket muffler, use of fuel mix enriching devices (like tecfusion) or by balancing the injectors.

In theory and looking at the mechanical process valve clearances should not cause surging.

Cheers
