Hi coolcat, I asked the same question before. Yes, R1200R use tube tyre because the spokey tubeless tyre is too big to fit in between the fork, also the tube spoke tyre will make it look more classic. That how they answer me. With the size of that tube tyre, its not easy to repair the tube inside.

BML (BoMaiLah),

I just saw a pic of the R1200R classic and did a double take ...

Are those tubed tires? Why not the cross-laced tubeless ones?

Cheers

I had the R1100R for a while, it has spoked wheels too but it uses tubeless tires. Can't understand why tubed tires are used for this version.

I'm very interested to change to this R1200R, to me the R series is perfect for road use.

Workshop mechanics are ok, never had issues with them. But administrative c0ck-up ah, since my bike purchase includes a trip down to Clementi Police Station to make a statement. B4 my purchase i thought highly of PML actually.

I hope with you around, you are able to bring PML to greater heights.

But dat does not mean i believe u have replied my PM still.

haha, Bo Mai Lah dont worry, your GS can definately catch up with the GSA. Not forgetting GS is lighter and power is weight ratio your GS will beat the GSA flat. But...... sad to say the rider matters also.

I like the look of the Classic, is it possible to change the tires to tubeless? Is it that the spoked rims now is no longer air-tight? I really find it odd that it can't take tubeless tires.

I reckon that it is possible with the right spacers and axle. The problem is finding the wheel. To my knowledge the only spoked 17 inch cross-laced wheel is that on a 75th Edition R1100R - practically unobtainium. The 17 inch spoked motard wheel for the HP2E is a tubed one, I think.

It is so unlike BMW to present something that is a step backwards.

Oh, it is not only the 75th edition one that has spoked wheels, the two-tone R1100R I bought in 2000 also comes with spoked wheels (optional extra), and it comes with tubeless tires.

Seems like I got to opt for the standard version, and wait for hopefully nicer colors next year. I don't think I want to live with tubed tires.

Yup, those are the wheels. No other 17-inch front spoked tubeless in BMW entire line-up. Standard on the 75th, that was what I meant.
