just fyi, my 1150GS clock 18-19 Km/Liter, now my 1200GS is about 14+Km/Liter. Don't know why. I went back to PML and check and the usual answer nobody complain lei.

Prob in exchange for comfort & better speed, noone complaint?

Live & let live.

MHO ....

Bigger engine displacement need not necessarily mean higher consumption. I think the key factors are state of tune and riding style.

Even with same displacement 2 bikes can have different consumption. Generally city riding will not be as good as highway. Consumption to me is a big thing because it is indicative of the Heath of the bike.

I always recommend Alan of Perfection Motors as he is professional and takes a real interest in his work. Good choice if you are not doing the maintenance yourself. Of course PML is agent, so next time sell can say "agent maintained":P

some of the beemers on our roads are not from PML..they are PI..means that most local bike shops can service them..look up a few previous post and you will find the answer for a reliable local bike shop that does beemers

Jus wanna ask those guys who ride Fazer & change to Beemer wads the difference beside the comfy & price?

Hi,

Not exactly your scenario but I used to have a FZ600 (not the FZ1) in my stable. Compared with the R1150R, the FZ is a different machine. Smoothness, the FZ wins hands down. It also pulls quite well especially after 7k rpm. The R is much heavier, although I think tad more torquey but top end the FZ again triumphs. The FZ was not uncomfortable, in fact I would say more comfy than the R, but the RT and GS's seats are better than the R's. Even amongst Rs, the R1100R has a better (adjustable) seat than the 1150's.

The BMW feels more exclusive. Maintenance wise, the FZ is better, although on the R most jobs are easily done by me, so there are some cost savings there. The FZ is cheaper and I would say offers better value. In the end though, it was rather unexciting (cos' of the way I ride it I guess and because I could hardly tinker with it) and under-used so I sold it.

Hope that this feedback is useful.

Cheers

Tell ya a story. I bought my airhead without keys, and handlebar locked, on the premise that a locksmith would come down and duplicate a key for me. Turned out that I was wrong, they do not want to do this sort of job, and the blank for the airhead is not commonly available anyway. I had visions of dismantling the ignition and then reverse-engineering the key somehow.

In the end, a trip to PML with proof of ownership and chasis number led to an order for the key from Germany. I got the key in 2 weeks, for about $50. very impressive. Moments like these, you gotta hand it to the Germans. Certainly they did not lose the war because of inefficiency or machinery.

Thanks for the advise..

Btw... Why would you buy something without keys and locked?

The bike's owner was away and the bike had fallen into disuse, to put it mildly.

Fell in love with it first time I laid my eyes on it. Courtship was long but in the end persistence won. :p Not a rational decision but one that felt right.

Hi , i can share with u my experience cos my previous ride is a Fazer6. Now riding F650GS twin. Fazer is a very torque n revving engine . I hit top speed 246km (stock bike) but for day in day out usage it not tat pleasant for me. I prefer smoothes throttle like super4. But it really power when hit 11k rpm the bike fly like a rocket. (thrilling) but I don't need to hit Tat speed for day to day ride. So I choose BMW f650gs twin and it suit me best . Powerful but not thrilling. smooth engine not revving. 25km/liter as compare to Fazer 18km/liter. But it still depend on Wat u want from the bike. Comfort n touring BMW is better cos more upright position. Fazer fast n thrilling comfy too. In term of speed Fazer is the winner but comfort BMW is better for me.

Hi to qrosity,

Welcome fellow Fazerian .... I'm also a former Fazerian too... Change to F650GS twin recently ...see u otr cheers!!!

Dun use the bike because it rains? Hmmmm...interesting!

haha. ya... occasional still ok. Finds it a hassle to don rain gears, dry rain gears etc..... especially if its on the way to work.
