Hi - anyone know if the public is allowed entry to watch the testing in February?

I know there are specialist trips but was wondering if the general public can watch . . . if so, is it normal ticket entry etc . ..

Cheers.

Yes. I emailed the circuit folk and they replied saying the event is open to the public. Not only that, it is free of charge (but limited to the grandstand area only)!

Dates: 1-3 Feb and 22-24 Feb.

I'm looking at flights as we speak ;)

Hi, any of you guys been there for the past years? It sounds interesting to catch a glimpse of the practice session, however i just would like to know if all the teams will be there or just certain teams? and also normally on practice sessions, will the circuit be packed? Coz i dun wanna waste my trip there and in the end too crowded to comfortably catch anything since only the grandstand will be opened to public. I've been there on race day, but not the practices.

Thanx in advance..

I haven't been there for test days, but from the Youtube vid below, it looks pretty empty. As for teams, I expect all the main guys to be there.

For all three days, the test runs from 9am to 5pm. :)

See you there hopefully. I will be the idiot with a flag of Lorenzo's Por Fuera sign (the red 'x' surrounded with a curved arrow). :)

Well I went up and all I can say is that it was excellent. You got all-day action, pit area is interesting to watch and the place was deserted. Excellent.

Didn't see any Lorenzo's flag though :)

Oh no! Really? Would've been pretty fun to have met a SBFer in Sepang that day. I was sitting right across the Yamaha paddock - was there on the last day (3 Feb) pretty much from 9.30am to 4.30pm. With my Lorenzo's Land flag. :)

I posted some of the photos I took in another thread: http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/313579-2011-motogp-premier-class?p=6928000&viewfull=1#post6928000

Another one coming up: 22nd - 24th February.

Won't be going for this one unfortunately. Will just keep in touch with the results on motogp.com. Can't wait to see if Lorenzo can take on Simoncelli and Stoner.

Oh ya, last year for the 800cc before reverting back to the 1000cc. Should be one hell of a year for MotoGp 2011!!

I thought they've reverted back to the 1000 or 998cc class bro?

1000cc coming in next year (2012). Same year 125cc becomes Moto3 (250cc four stroke).

No traction control this time right?

Not very sure. From what I've read, it looks like the official people at Dorna will supply the bike's GPS. Apparently in past years each team used their own type of GPS, which was used to track the bike's position accurately in the track so that traction control or other set-up settings can be changed automatically and in real-time from one corner to another. Maybe Dorna's GPS has reduced resolution and will make it difficult to make set-up changes from one corner to another?
