Not only walk and cross the road like their own road but also cycle their bicycle on roads not obeying the traffic rules.

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

and how many cases are actually successful for this kind of scenario? protect us, no doubts.. but does it really work? i doubt so. most of the time, we are the ones getting into hospital because of that. and the culprit, at most gets fine, loss of licence.

if genuine cases of motorist at fault, like lights not in motorist favour and hits a pedestrian who is crossing the road, he/she deserves to be charged big time.

but jaywalking? we have to pay for their fault and ignorance? WTF?!

Ya. This i agree with u. It sucks to be penalized by the law for some idiot jaywalking. Somemore as riders we also may get hurt.

I think the law was meant to protect everyone by deterring accidents. U see, if us motorists weren't penalized for hitting jaywalkers, then no one will look out for them. People will drive/ride more aggressively without caring to look out for jaywalkers. After all, i chiong, u cross road, i hit u only mah. The law won't touch me. Jaywalker alone get penalized.

Pedestrians will already think twice before jaywalking. After all, get hit they the first to lose out. But without the law to penalize motorists, we'll not play our part to prevent accidents against jaywalkers.

So, much as i dislike the law favouring idiot pedestrians, I still believe it serves a greater good. Unless you're daft enough to get hit by some rich and powerful people lah. Then gg. Either you're tree branch or they didn't see the traffic lights.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

Actually thats a pretty good point, thanks for your perspective.

Initially i was also pretty "upset" that the law seems "unfair", but after reading your post, I realized at one time or another, we are all pedestrians or jaywalkers.

"Wolves and sheep will live together in peace, and leopards will lie down with young goats, calves and lion cubs will feed together, and little children will take care of them. Cows and bears will eat together, and their calves and cubs will lie down in peace." Isaiah 11:6-8

if you jaywalk with some sense, look all clear and cross quickly, or STAND way behind the turning apex, at least you wun be a thorn in the eyes of other motorists.

this law last worked probably about 10-15yrs back when most of the populations are law-abidding..

with the current huge influx of PRC ah tiongs, they walk and cycle as if they own the god-damn road.. this law ain't gonna work, cause they think they are in PRC where they are king..

i can't imagine the carnage if the vehicle involved wasn't a bike, but a prime mover.. :faint:

The law will work IF they follow it to the letter.

Caught jaywalk now is fine $20 right?

So Jaywalk causing accident first thing is fine $20.

Then Jaywalker compensates the driver/rider for the damage, just like any other road user who was in the wrong.

Any injury pay on their own, because driver/rider NOT at fault.

After a few such cases the number of jaywalkers will drop to near zero.

You know... sometimes we need to kill a chicken to make the monkeys obedient.

Ah.. Again i agree with u. Ah tiongs and bangalas introduce a new element of uncertainty. Agree 10-15 yrs ago when Singaporeans walked all over Singapore, this law worked fine. The problem however, is not the law. Its the influx of foreigners, which i remember, some Straits Times forummer said made roads unsafe. Its not just the foreign worker pedestrians, its also the Bangalas directing traffic or driving.

But then, the problem is not the law. Its the changing times. These days Singapore is 1/3 foreigners born outside Singapore and 2/3 Singaporean. The problem is that the law is not catching up with changing times. Too many foreigners changing the road culture here. Still, I'm not sure we could mount a case of changing the law to suit the times. I think it seems more reasonable to expect the foreigners to adapt to our laws, rather than our laws to adapt to them changing the road culture. If u agree with the law favouring pedestrians and smaller vehicles serving the greater good, then u can't expect the changing times to change the law. It is unfortunate that motorists (minus the rich and powerful) must be sacrificed from time to time from banging idiot jaywalkers. Its only purpose is to remind the rest of us to watch out for ah tiong dashing across, or ah neh crossing without looking. Just hope I'm not the one to be penalized. Coz i certainly don't think i can get away with saying i thought the chap i hit was a tree branch. Or that i didn't see the traffic light.

Guess we just gotta try to stay safe. Keep our fingers crossed.

Best defence is pedestrain dash off, both bang at the road side. Unless right in middle of road, no case. Hope the judge is not the tree branch one. Dam sway that one.

don't so bad lah.. ah tiong also trying to carve a pitiful existence. Its really the ang moh expats that take the cake. Not taking the jobs Singaporeans don't want but directly competing with us. I'm fine with tiongs. As long as they're not in my way on the road.

Actually not so good to have so many foreign workers here also, they pitiful or not is another matter.

Government encourage older folks to work, but for companies hiring old workers, the insurance is more expensive and the older workers no stamina to work long hours, ask them to work overtime they want, but body cannot, 60++ how to work 10-12 hours?

So bosses go for Ah Tiongs lor, then the rest you know what happen lah, suddenly all the older folks without higher education out of a job, public transport cramp up, and when they do stupid things, overseas people think Singaporeans do one. :faint:

Expat is come here take our jobs, take our women, take our houses. When times are bad, cash out and go home. :(

House prices go up, good jobs hard to find, no good SG girls left not their problem.

I don't even know why I serve NS or to protect this place anymore.

The irony of it all is that back home, these Ah Tiong pedestrians themselves do not get any respect or right of way from traffic.

In Shanghai, the zebra crossings mean NOTHING for the pedestrians. The drivers there just don't give a flying frak. As long as it's not an intersection they will zoom pass a pedestrian crossing without due care. They'll even horn the crossing pedestrian despite the latter's right of way... so that makes me wonder... if Ah Tiong pedestrians are used to bad drivers not giving a rat's ass about their safety, why are they acting like the goddamned emperors of the road here.

So I agree with the person who said, just blast your horn at those mofos. They deserve nothing more than that.

Mofos, all of them.

Mofos.

perhaps one can think of more "defensive" modifications that will make bikes/riders more visible and audible? I.e. installing loud horns, blinking lights...

We need to install Cow Catchers... just like on those ancient steam locomotives... on our fenders.

That should send them... packing....
