Thanx for the repky Ticks.. Well, dats boring.. Haha.. I guess i shall jist get the end can or other brands den.. My drz still mostly stalk.. Bt still a fun bike to ride arnd the streets.. Just hate the vibrations tho

Change your grips to something softer, and wear lightly-padded gloves. That'll help a lot with vibration fatigue.

 

And yes, only the slip-on for Leovince is legit. You won't get fantastic HP gains with that alone, but with a 3x3 mod and re-jetting you should notice an improvement in the mid- to high-RPM range without much of an increase in FC. It's also effing loud and can be really obnoxious, so you'll have to get used to that (or wear earplugs).

By the way, I thought I'd share with this with everyone here: if you're planning on using a Hepco & Becker top case (Xplorer, Gobi or Alu), it'd be best to mount it with a proper steel H&B Rear Rack (image here: http://bit.ly/18lNQVC; it goes for $250 at M-Technik).

 

I was previously using the H&B Easy Rack (what's known as the "base plate") mounted on top of my Rally 591 Rack to carry my 45L Xplorer, and the arrangement lasted only 7 months before the Rally Rack (made of aluminium) snapped.

 

I hope no one else experiences my facepalm-worthy waste of money.

With a properly tuned stock carb, engine valve clearance within factory specs... a DRZ with a stock header and Leo Vince X3 carbon tip end can is not exactly a slow poke on the track.

 

A lot of DRZ owners are trying to up the power on their bikes by putting on FCRs or illegal aftermarket exhausts..and they overlook the biggest power robber which is out of tolerance valve clearances on the engine.

 

Valve clearance will decrease over time due to wear and tear..too close valve clearance results in premature opening and late closing of the valves resulting in insufficient intake of fresh charge from the carb and 'leakage' of the combusted gases from the combustion chamber before its fully utilised.

 

Premature opening of the exhaust valve may lead to valve seat burning and wear other than loss of power and increased fuel consumption.

 

Valve clearance checks should be done yearly or every 15,000 km. Not many DRZs follow this requirement.

if Leovince x3 carbon is only legal for end-can, what's the next most affordable full system available?

Other than radiator hose, coolant can be leaked from radiator n other parts? Cant seems to find where my coolant leaked is from

 

What hoses are u on and how old is your bike?maybe leaking from a dented radiator fin?

Rubber hoses will deteriorate over time. Mine last time seep through where the clips are.. Tighten all the jubilee clips and see if they're loose lo. Or... Just change to silicon hoses...

I have a DRZ400SM 09 and have been riding it for the past 2 years. Loving my bike every ride. Using Delta full system from Unique.

 

I always change engine oil every 3k including oil filter.

Coolant flush, spark plug, brake fluid, chain and spocket set yearly.

 

Just sharing the standard stuff I did for the low-cost maintenance bike.

Haha. Cos I Kena before!Stuck at traffic light then got smoke.. Went to office and check and can see slight leak from the clips then the coolant drop on the header then smokey smokey.. Lol. After that tighten the clip temporarily and go to raptors for the silicone ones..

 

As for wheels... Good things don't come cheap. Cheap things don't come good.. Thailand is known for lower cost manufacturing....

sorry if this question have already been asked. but I've been looking for Frame Guards and Unabiker Radiator Guards for my DRZ.

 

Can anyone let me know where can i buy these items from?

Hi, there's a question I've been begging to ask, how is a DRZ compared to a Spark 135 or a Gilera, in terms of maintenance and everyday usage in Singapore because it will be relegated to everyday use/side bike and occasional track day. Well actual price isn't the issue because like the other two, the bike retains its price quite readily, buy high sell high thing but more of a maintenance/spare parts/insurance cost issue.

 

If it is anywhere as bulletproof as my S4, I would seriously consider it.

 

Bike will not be modded, if it came modded I'll revert to stock, maybe an endcan but that's about it cuz if I wanted power, might as well go for a KTM but that defeats the intention of a sidebike.

 

Well I was considering a motard well simply put because agility and acceleration is more needed in our roads than outright speed, not to mention its carburetted, to me that's a plus point for an everyday bike, simpler for the mechanics or yourself to rectify. Any suggestions? Or am I better off with the other two as far as everyday use is concerned.

Different but comparing on cost of maintenance between those bikes still = $$$ mah, Gilera change belting, spark oil changes, spare parts all money in the end. Reliability is one thing but the cost of your normal wear and tear is another, full overhaul, valve clearances, brake pads etc.

 

Used to ride a TZM and a Ver S, I think I'm rather well versed with problem bikes wahahah.

Bro just buy and ride only, dont need worry soo much. Parts r easy and cheap to find. Imho most ideal bike to ride in singapore road. Once u go SM u will never go back.
