at last found a website that can increase our vara bhp from 15 to 20 at a price..

bore the engine to 160cc.....(still trying to find out how the french guy bored till 255cc)

http://www.unlimited-power.net/anglais/ficheVaradero160.htm#

http://www.unlimited-power.net/anglais/images/shadowcrb_160.gif

**vara engine is similar to that of shadow's

http://www.unlimited-power.net/anglais/images/image004.gif

actually still cannot understand the demographics on the graph....but by calculation....

33% power increase should top the speed from 130-140 max to close to 160kph...

very comfortable speed for touring...but how true? considering other factors...

when you re-bore to increase the cc, the increase in hp is not proportionate to the increase in top speed. When you re-bore, you gain torque but not in rpm, so your top speed remains the same. To improve your top speed, you would need to increase the rpm. When the manufacturer designs a bike, every component is factored into the equation to balance between performance and reliability. To modify just one or a few components drastically, you may enhance it's performance but at the expense of reliability, up to a point, it could jeopardise the safety of the rider.

With all these uncertainties, my advise is to get a bigger cc bike, it's safer and cheaper in the long run.

the kit includes a different cam shaft.....which to my knowledge will change the intake system and thus the speed...(any comments on this? i'm not so sure bout this part)

but with all these...i think a lot of other calibration need to be done...other than tuning also need to find the right combination of sprockets to adjust the ratio transmission...it will be a long and expensive project to do this..

why go through all the trouble...get a bigger cc bike...save all the money and the sweat...

but that's not the point....the idea is to keep this bike...

One more important thing, bro, you completely forgot gear ratios, they are fixed.

Even with a bigger bore engine, you probably cut down to time to reach an attained speed. Say for example, last time with stock engine, you take 15 secs to reach 100kmh....now with a rebored engine, maybe you cut off 2 secs... with fatter torque. The gear ratios and final drive is a limiting factor, we have to bear that in mind.:cheeky:

noted.

I would check what are the restricting factors of the vara. For Honda to meet EU requirements, they have to meet all sorts of noise and emission regulations, hence the engines are definitely not running at it's full potential.

Now that you have got yourself a nice pipe, you have to un-restrict the front. One way is to increase the air, by having a high performance air filter like K&N, and also to open up the air-intake. To balance your higher air volume, you would need to increase the petrol (otherwise you risk running too lean) by increase your jet setting. Better if you can replace it with a high performance racing carbs. This mods wouldn't cost you a bomb, and the bike remains legal.

just another suggestion that come out of my mind...

how bout putting a transalp 400 or shadow 400 engine to the bike...whichever is more compatible....?

possible?

:offtopic: Guys, guess what............

Went to Biketech21 today and I finally got myself a set of H&B Junior Flash 30L panniers . Though not exactly yet....which the boxes will have to wait for the next shipment, but I managed to get the rack fixed on my bike!!! (At Mah Motor. Cost of Installlation, with some other simple servicing....... very very low$$.... ) So no more ' Two plastic box from my wife' :cheer:

The deal went very smooth and got what I wanted. (A big thank you to shop owner Shah, AIKON & EasyRiding and many other bros here who gave me inputs on the panniers e.g Al-Simmons, Butcher, DaniYal, Wady, Redwolf etc. etc!!!)

A good friend from the Outrider's family has just passed away.

"FROM HIS BROTHER- Dear friends..bros & sis. Thank you for for all the help & support. My brother Steven(Ross) has passed away on 31st July at 1000am. His wake will be on the 1st AUG - 6th AUG at Blk 118, Toa Payoh Lorong 2."

A very friendly and cheerful guy. A pioneer owner of Vara125. Although only ride with us once, his presence for that ride made us remembered him always.

We are likely to go for his wake on saturday.

Al-Simmons > The mechanic quoted S$5/=. But I told him about my brake prob which he sprayed some oil and did some drilling on the license plate cos of the H&B rack. After seeing so much was done and the time that he had spent, I asked him for the price again and he just take a mere S$15/=

Hi Bros.....

It seems hard to believe that Steven had passed away. I wouldnt believe it until his family member replied back to me the sms I sent to Steven's hp. Suddenly all the memories from Cherating flashed back... its like as if just a few days back we ride up there together...

Remembered the moment when we were riding back to sg and desperately looking for a pump station to top up.... he was really getting panic coz his tank is running on reserves!! Not to mention the incident where all of us helped to pull his bike out of the waters at Cherating Lama!!

Sweet memories of a fella whom some would really miss

Rest in Peace Bro..... :weep:

HAIL VARA BROS ....

Deeply sadden by the lost to one of our pioneer Vara125 owner . Still remember the very first time i met him way back in Nov 2001 at Mah Motor wen both of us just got our Vara .... Such a gentle giant he his and mild mannered .... im sure most of u guys would agree wif me .

Memories of our Cherating trip creeps back to my mind .... remember wen he took 2 of the hotels towels , bundle it up and make it as an xtra padding on his bike seat and do you guys remember how he hav to lift up his arms in order for him to see his side mirrors .... It seems funny at dat time but to think back dis little tings dat he did makes us really remember him most .

Let us pay our last respect to him dis Sat .... to anybody who wish to go for his wake do contact Al Simmons . It doesn't matter if u knw or do not knw him ... just take it as a respect to our fellow fallen rider .

Steven .... u r gone bro .... but u r not forgotten .... may you R.I.P
