Is anyone interested to chiong the 7 Mal-Thai checkpoints in 1 day?

Plan is to ride up Malaysia East Coast via trunk road and sleep @ Sungei Golok for 1 night.

Early next morning 6am start clearing all the checkpoints 1st checkpoint will be Taba and last checkpoint will be Kaki bukit.

Aim is just to collect passport chops. Anything after that will be OTOT.

If no one is interested, I'll do it alone =)

*Edited to be 8 checkpoints.

It's a small checkpoint on Wang kelian, about 20 km from Padang besar. Only 1 lane on each side.

I'll attach a picture of my ride past that checkpoint in a moment.

Yeap. It's quite a challenging hill climb enroute to the checkpoint.

Checkpoint closes at 6pm Malaysia time therefore only have 12 hrs to clear the 7 checkpoint.

If there's a huge jam at more than 2 of the checkpoints = game over, pls try again.

As there is only 12 hours to play around with, time is of the essense in this game:

Start point: 5am (Malaysia time)

Location: Sungei Golok (Thai soil)

1. Taba (enter Msia) est 6am

2. Sg Golok (enter Thai) est 7.30am

3. Beketa (enter Msia) est 9am

4. Betong (enter Thai, early lunch in Betong, enter Msia) est 11am

5. Sadao (enter Thai) est 3pm

6. Padang Besar (enter Msia) est 4.30pm

7. Kaki Bukit (enter Thai) est 5.30pm

#All timings are on the conservative side.

Mission accomplished. Proceed to rest and relax.

Crossing over can be done by long-tail boats or by ferry (different landings). Boats leave about every 15 minutes and run during daylight hours. The fee is 6 baht per person, which is the same at every pier. The fee for a motorcycle is 15 baht, for a 4-wheel car is 50 baht and for a bus is 100 baht.

Sorry I'm a noob.

1st time trying to use this checkpoint.

It's 1 of the 2 checkpoints that I have not used before.

Well, we'll learn something new on each trip :)

*if bus can cross, bike sure can :)

Sorry for late reply. Been out if town for past 10 days.

Glad to see your passion to challenge the checkpoints.

Unfortunately, I can't change my schedule to match yours.

The routing has been posted up. Feel free to do the ride whenever you are free.

Do post up some pics if you manage to accomplish the feat.

OMG.. inserting another checkpoint will make this ride impossible in 1 day. @_@

Btw, thank you for your timely information insert.

Just went through the entire route via google map.

It's virtually impossible to complete my initial 7 checkpoints ride in 1 day. (on paper at least; due to the unknown road conditions)

Thus, I am opting to convert it to become an 8 checkpoint ride over the entire trip instead. (much more relaxed ride)

Will post out the routing slightly later.
