Can carpark officer tear off the "day" or "night" tabs from motorbike parking coupon?

I had an encounter that my parking coupon tab was torn off and issued with a fine..is this even legal?

 

I parked at night and the day tab was torn off, likelyhood by the officer since there's no other bikes around.. -.-

The fine was issued 12:05am 09March2011, I parked from 10+pm till 750am.

 

Indeed i did not tear off neither the day nor night tab but he came at 12:05am and torn off my day tab and issue me a fine?

 

Doing me a favour? i think this is reli ridiculous, if he didn't tear and issue me, still not so angry, obviously my bike is there at night he purposely tear the day tab.. =.=

i saw it on hdb website in Jan2011 that one parking coupon can use for the whole day, recently i checked, on 21Feb2011, they change to either day or night.. =.=

erm...i tot to make the parking coupon valid u MUST tear off all the REQUIRED TAB..including EITHER DAY or NITE??? as stated in the instructions.

coz even 'whole day parking' must tear off day/night tab. 'whole day parking' simply means you may park there overnight, but you still have to put a day or night coupon depending on your time of parking. means must pay separately for day and night parking. it doesn mean one coupon for both day and night session. some is whole day parking with night parking free, in which case you pay for day parking and tear off the day tab, and at night no need any coupon.

 

the opposite of 'whole day parking' is day parking only. meaning after 1030pm, only season coupon holders can park. so i think you've mistook the concept of whole day parking.

To be frank, you cannot blame the officier as your coupon isn't valid (incomplete tearing) in the first place.

They do not need to tear off the coupon for you.

 

They merely need to issue you a summon to state you dont have parking coupon (Properly teared off).

 

And to prevent abuse. They will take a picture of your parking coupon already. So if you were to later try to submit a parking coupon with the right torn off tab. It will still be invalid against their decision to issue the coupon.

Officer tear off wrong tab for you = $8 fine (you should be lucky he didn't spit on your bike for giving him extra work to do)

And why shouldnt the parking warden or even members of public has any right to tear off the tab for you, that got you the summons?

 

Because, a) you really was only parking in the night, and wasnt trying to cheat everyone within the vicinity that you parked there for the night, and not the day or

 

b) No one should have the right to tamper with your parking coupon, which you purposely forgot to torn off the right tab?

 

c) you really did forgot to torn off the correct tab? And some idiots who helped you torn off the wrong tab is the result of your summon?

 

You still didnt get what I was saying. That the officer/whoever torn off the tab, because you already was parked there in the day. And if they so want, they should simply summon you for day and night instead of just one single night. Your summon should have correctly been $16/- instead of just $8/-.

Your last post says you are appealing, so at the end of the day... you want them to waive the $8 to shut you up. oh come on ...pay and move on

You did not tear the day/night tab. Now you want to KPKB with them, saying they don't have the right to tear your coupon and you want to appeal? You seriously think the fine will be waived now that you are blaming them for tearing it? Best part, Your friend is a witness to prove that you did not tear the coupon? Is he for or against you?

Bike installment can reach 150 a month. petrol can reach 80 a month. season parking is 17 amonth.

 

But got $ buy bike and no $ to pend on a $0.65 parking coupon?

 

Just pay get on with life lah. For $8, waste time go down and appeal for what.

 

Anyway, what if the warden was nice at the same time?

 

come 10pm check and tear for u the day tab. Then come again at 1am check and then give u parking fine?

actually the matter very simple.

 

when they print your saman slip, ask them change from:

 

4(1) Parking without displaying valid parking coupon(s) or displaying insufficient amount of parking coupons. $8

 

to this offence:

 

Parking displaying invalid parking coupon(s). $8

 

the fine amount is the same, no worries. some more you got fren who witnessed that your actual offence is the second one and not the first.
