Hi, would like to know if anybody has encountered problems with the online booking system these few weeks. The system has been showing me prac 4 when I've already passed it and have already been going for circuit revisions. I have no option to book prac 5 or circuit revisions now. Have sent them emails about it but have received no reply. Anybody has the same problem?

Hi guys, Just wanna share my learning experience for the past few months while getting my class 2b license.. I enrolled just one day before national day last year(08/08/2010). At the start, my parents were against me riding and stuffs, but i still enrolled without their knowledge and they find out after my prac 3/4... I felt bad lying to them and keeping them in the dark, thus i decide to come forward and speak the truth, my dad seeing my passion for riding and was determined to get the class 2b license, he gave me the go ahead, which i heaved a sigh of relieve.. I tell you guys the feeling felt good and nothing was better than having the consent of your parents... At the start, 1st and 2nd prac was difficult, i took 3 lessons for prac 1 and 2 lessons for prac 2 to complete it. As i had learnt driving and drove for abt a year or so. de feeling was different and it was much difficult riding compared to driving...There came the fig 8 and crank course, which i took 2 lessons to pass. i started having confidence in myself and wanted to get my license faster... Here come prac 4(Plank and e-brake).. It was difficult at 1st. I was a big guy, at a height of 187cm and almost 90kg. balancing on the plank was difficult. i tried 10 times and just got once perfect.. So it was a challenge. and come e-brake i skid at the 1st attempt and my jeans tore and i injured my heel which i could not walk properly for 2 weeks, but i still continue going for lessons... I took prac 4 four times and complete it. BUt i went for many CRs before i managed to pass my prac 5 in the 3rd attempt... Passed RTT at 1st attempt...and went out for road training. passed both prac 6 and 7 once... As i had the road experience, it was considered easy for me.. But for prac 8, i tried 5 times before passing. it was during prac 8 when i knew that my road riding was not good and it was totally different from driving. Everytime i go on the road, different mistakes happened every single time. So i took 5 times before passing and was excited for my 1st TP. 1st TP: NO immediate failure but 30 points, just like prac 8, the previous 4 times which i failed. many many points.. Went home dissapointed and waited one month for the 2nd tp, which was ardy April.. Failed again because of plank drop with 30 points again.. I knew this was bad and went for a few circuit revision and road revision. The 3rd time came which was yesterday 19th may 2011. I felt confident and this is the time! I took it and passed!! I felt so happy, even more happy than passing my driving... It took me 9 months to get my class 2b license which was very slow and long in fact.

For writing my story here, i just wanna encourage other new learners and trainees not to give up easily and motivate all the way till you get the class 2b license.. I just hope you guys will pass and we will see each other on the road ASAP!!! I m going for expressway riding tml! Those who are going tml, enjoy!! :D

Delvyn, woah thanks for sharing your story man. Though I've yet let my parents know I'm learning riding. :S

I'm just done with Prac 4.

Gonna be going for my Internal Evaluation, revision and Prac 5 all on this coming Wed.

hopefully one RC would be enough for me.

A friendly advice from me(No offence though) Let your parents know you are learning riding and show them your passion to riding. I believe they will understand you. I have a couple of friends who learn and riding out now without their parents knowledge. When some bad things happen and your parents know abt it..they will be heartbroken. So if the time is right and chances are there, speak to your parents abt it. :)

Good luck for your prac 5, IE and enjoy your revision. I had the same thinking as you just have 1 circuit/road revision. But it is not sufficient. I passed my prac 5 on the 3rd try and prac8 on the 5th try. So more revision = more practice and experience and learn from mistakes! Cheers!!! :D

thanks for the advice, will be getting to speaking about it i guess.

and Prac5 was a major learning for me, took a fall at the E Brake, probably stepped too hard on my rear brake and skidded. Too ganchiong at the assessment liao. never happened before in the obstacle course before. The fall did remind me of my bike accident in Vietnam though. Same side, same slide, but probably at Gear4 instead of 3. lol. Second attempt after that fall got me a brake that was a little wobbly at the handlebar, a bit of fear liao.

Will be going for more RCs to brush up on it before the next Prac5.

But i did pass my IE, and going for RTT 9th June. Good enough day for me.

Same as me! I skidded during e-brake but it was during the 1st lesson of prac 4. Torn jeans, heel was abit slanted, couldnt walk properly for a few days.. After the incident, didnt dare to go too fast at e-brake and brake too hard, gradually apply the pressure... So wont be hard braking and jam the brakes to avoid falling..

After you pass the brake line. Don't jam the brakes. Press the brakes harder until you stop as you go nearer to the red line red line. Make sure you grip the tank and front wheel straight. On the road after you pass you will use this technique all the time at traffic lights when you are going fast and the light turns orange.

Wah you the champion. Dare to ride bike in Vietnam. I been there 25 times and still dare not ride. The traffic conditions there are almost lawless. Can anyhow go against traffic also. I pillion on my gf bike dare not look in front. I used to have class 2 but gantong so retook back 2b end last year.

Ya man, guess I will need more practise, cannot jam the brakes too early after brake line. Gotta lock the handlebars too. Thanks for the advice.

wah how come 25 times in Vietnam? That's hardcore man. I took my fall in Dalat, highlands, that was my first time renting bikes and gei kiang rented manual. Gancheong'd when a big vehicle came up quickly behind me, fell and slided off road, about a meter from going off the cliff. From then on I don't dare rent manual bikes due to the different brake system liao. haha!

When you pressing the brakes also imagine that in front of you a car jam brakes so you look straight in front and not down. During street riding always pay attention to car brake lights. Use this concept in your mind and you will have no probs in e-brake.

Have a gf in Vietnam that's why go so many times. Been to Dalat 3 times. Got a friend who owns a small hotel there too. Nice place and much lesser traffic. No wonder you chose to try riding there. No need license to rent and ride bike there. Lol. Traffic is scary in Ho Chi Minh city.

Don't worry lah. New riders always need to fall for the experience. After I switched to 750cc bike no more accidents because of experience. Too bad I lost my license while driving so now start all over.

Don't worry. You will get there with more experience (more $$ also). Just keep going.

hi all, just booked my 3rd lesson for prac 6, hopefully can clear it this time round :(

and i've got a question, for stop lines, are we allowed to inch out after stopping before the line?

or only at the T-junction right after exiting from the motorcycle nursery where the blind wall is ?

Posted

From what I understand after talking to one of the instructors, on the road, it's a judgement call, i.e. if your view of oncoming traffic is blocked, then yes you would have to inch out to get a better look. In the circuit, only inch out at the blind wall area. For other stop lines, stop before the line and don't inch out.

Hope this helps. Good luck! =)

alright ! thanks !

another question, regarding forming up, when the road marking indicates (going straight & turning left/right, going straight & turning left & right); if i'm going straight, i have to form up 2 rows right?
