Finger memory. You don't even need to see patterns. Once you've played a musical instrument long enough, it embeds into your subconscious... like speaking.

Well he plays with instruments i guess that's y his fingers are just automatic.

 

Its the same as rollerblading, or riding a motorcycle. You don't think about how to balance, your brain reacts well before you think. Thats how Rossi and Shoemaker can catch slides.
