A Silverwing will render a comfortable ride to Sadao im sure. I think going str8 to Sadao shdnt be much of an issue.

 

Best if you grab an intercom for both of you, so can converse along the way. Really helps alot in trips.

 

I have a pair of bluetooth intercom if you would like to consider. Did a marvellous job on my last long trip with my friends.

 

How does it fit - onto the helmets? Does it fit on all types - Full, Open and 3/4? As I have all these types of helmets.

 

Oh Yes by the way For Info Sharing - they issue Visa's to foreign passports but they need to have the following:

1)Passport size photo

2)$10,000 Bhat and

3) Must be from the list of countries that they approve for on arrival visa issue. Info can be found @ Singapore Thai Embassy website.

It looks like the Q2, but has the functions of a G4. Fits on most helmet. Mine is an OEM set, hence there is no branding sticker etc. Hope u get what i mean. It did a good job during both my trips.

once u cross sadao border..pls buy insurance for thailand. although ppl say our local insurance cover up till hatyai, apparently its a myth. i encountered a road block headin towards hatyai and was fined 1000baht(abt $45++) by their TP. u can easily get the insurance aft the sadao border. peace

 

True our insurance covers 50km above thai border. But that is for ourselves n our claim.

 

Contrary to our insurance, the thai insurance which u suppose to purchase is to protect their people not for u. So if u bang into them they can claim. If u suay they bang into u, u cant use the thai insurance to claim for ursef but u can use it to settle with the thais.

Bros, recently i had done a damn stupid thing. I come back to Sg forgetting to return the temp veh export doc back to custom at sadao.

12 months ago, same thing happened to me cox I couldn't find the carnet when I was the the customs.

 

heard that there may be a fine the next time you try to enter? 2000b?

 

but heck, it din matter when I rode my other bikes in/out subsequently.

 

may you may want to seek advise from the sg thai embassy? pls enlighten me when you have the correct info

Bro, i had yet to consult sg thai embassy. i had ask my contacts, hopefully they can provide me some solution, if not, i was thinking shoot up again before the 30 days and come out again, but tis time must rmb to return the doc.

The most direct route is NSHW to thai border, followed by route 4 to Hatyai, followed by route 4 again to Phuket.

 

Road signs are plentiful and in English. You won't get lost. You wont even need a GPS.

There are plenty of petrol stations. yes like in Thailand. I duno about the colours, perhaps it's best to ask before you pump.

From what i understand, there will be a fine of 2000 bht, and to be paid to the log car check in/out counter, the next time u enter into thailand by sadao border they will have your record and when u once again present all the document to process they will ask you to pay on the spot....

hi there, you can look out for the following sign board.... Please bring along a map and an gps for reference as well..

 

1. saodao ~ hatyai

2. hatyai ~ phattalung

3. phattalung ~ trang

4. Trang ~ krabi

5. Krabi ~ phanga

6. Phanga ~ phuket

 

 

Some petrol station there only have gasohol so u can try the major brands like shell, caltex or essomobil, or their local brand PTT. those small petrol kiosk operated by local villagers most likely only have gasohol.

 

Gasohol ~ A fuel consisting of a blend of ethyl alcohol and unleaded gasoline, especially a blend of 10 percent ethanol and 90 percent gasoline.Not good for cars/bikes that only pump unleaded gasoline. i tried pumping once, nothing much difference , but that is only when u are running out of options, die die bo bian... just my 2 cents.

thom@s: I went through all 8 land checkpoints with 1 piece of carnet. apply at the 1st checkpoint and returned at the last checkpoint. It's valid for 30 days.

 

You do not need to sneak in. Just clear immigration and go dannok/hatyai to have a good time. Return the carnet when you are leaving.

So far, no reliable confirmation for this.

 

I've also read somewhere that an overstaying bike may be confiscated if found in thai as it is deemed illegally sold without paying taxes.

 

btw, 2000b can buy alot of fun... ^^

In fact if u wanna do that ....shouldnt be of any problem, but if you kana caught ,i am sure that the fine is much more greater, better to learn a small mistake rather than to earn a "greater" one...some more u are not somewhere near your own country, everything is not in your advantage, just to share with you... i just return from hatyai last weekend (Driving ) and to my amazed , i did not brought out my LTA log card.... i mean when i am reaching bukit kayu hitam , then i found out that i left it on my sofa !!! What the ...? should i turn back? i asked myself.... After a few moment of hesitation , i decided to ' hiong " into the kingdom... as usual i chop my passport ,but i skip the vehicle declaration counter , and true enough i enjoy my stay there at hatyai .. this one i LL bo bian... but not recommended ,cause if you kana caught vehicle may be compound accord to their law...so Dont try la...

Personally i had a friend that kana this last year and he exit thailand, forgotten to return the form and was fined 2000 Bht, as he enter at the later part of the year... so to me , it's quite confirmed.

haha , save the trouble, just remember to return, remind each other if your team members... and if u really really forget , then bo bian lo....if they ask you to pay, then pay lo, if never just return them back the form while u exit...treat it as though nuffin happen...
