Thank you Brembo bro,

Finally a Nexus thread. This Italian beauty does deserve a thread of its own.

I've made contact with Mr. Mauro of GPR Italy. I gave him some feedbacks from both overseas and local Nexus riders on the performance of the GPR exhaust system.

The reviews I gather however were bad and thus Mr. Mauro was fast on his replies and made me an offer which I felt was way above any offer found locally.

The following is the exact e-mail I got;

"Dear Edward, the italian forums are not so serius like you think, we are however shipping the exhaust to GPR Asia, the new generation that we are producing since last 8 mounths have great power, good sound and it's solid.

On forum they speack well for the companies how make gifts to the guys, this is not our policy, we work serius we never sale on with words, the same is happening for the T-Max but it's too late on these forums cause everybody from last 3 years know that GPR is the real leader for scooter exhausts in italy.

For this reason Mivv and Leovince they make gifts and they pay guys to stay on the forum to give wrong infos, if you'll be not happy of your exhaust we'll be available to receive it back and give you back the money, this is what a serius company make business.

"At disposal, i wish you Merry Xmas and Happy New Year, Mauro Orlandi Sales Manager"

In return of this, I regain my confidence towards GPR and collected the "NEW" full system from JR Peter Tan yesterday(08/01/07). The Pipe was successfully installed by SUNRISE, my reason to choose Simon over the rest? Peace of mind and am comfortable with their attitude. If anyone noticed, I've been asking about GPR exhaust system over the forums for quite a while but the local guys seems not bothered and helpful.

(09/01/07) Morning 0930hrs - 1100 hrs

Brought my Nexus into Sunrise and started installation. Pictures will follow soon.

As per my request, I proposed to both Mr. Mauro and JR that I will take 07 days to finalised, it will also cover the legal aspect of having the system approved by the local authorities (LTA).

Installation and inspection fees are to be borne by me.

Attached is a picture of how it should look.

Pictures say a thousand words........

Initially, like I've mentioned before, the feedback I had from current 1st generation GPR exhaust owners were far beyond good. It seems that the GPR does not work well with the Nexus 500 and even I have Nexus riders from the UK telling me that the Leo Vince would be a better choice.

BUT, I was being ask to try out and promised a refund if this new batch do not work. So, why not?

Immediate feedbacks after installation were;

(1) Acceptable exhaust notes which is not "noisy" as 1st Batch

(2) Better finishing and built

1st 20km

(1) Pick up (Low end) Better than stock.

(2) (Low > Mid ) Good throttle respond

(3) (mid > high) No chance to try yet.

(Minus)

(1) Backfire after hard throttle. (about 3 pops)

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/em_cycles/IMG_1919-small.jpg @Sunrise awaiting installation

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/em_cycles/IMG_1920-small.jpg Off goes the "stock" exhaust system

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/em_cycles/IMG_1923-small.jpg header pipe

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/em_cycles/IMG_1924-small.jpg GPR stainless pipe for Nexus 500

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/em_cycles/IMG_1925-small.jpgclose up of the end tip

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/em_cycles/IMG_1928-small.jpg90% done

http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f230/em_cycles/IMG_1929-small.jpg finally, job well done.

apparently, GPR Italy have included a "power commander"in this shipment. This is specially set up for the Nexus 500. I guess after installing should see better performance.

Currently, after hard throttle, I do experience back-fire.

Hmmm...........If I need to spend so much on a pipe and spend even more for a "power commander" I guess sticking to the stock pipe could be a good idea.

However, I am against stock set up and do like my exhaust tone to be a little more bassy.

whilst the road dries up, I am starting to enjoy my morning starts up. Throttle responds is good overall, I notice a significant improvement in my "on-the-go" pick-up.

I have yet to push it to beyond the legal speed limits, constantly playing with the "traffic lights start" situation.

Well, at the end of the day, the Gilera Nexus 500 is already a very powerful maxi-scooter, packed with damm good looks + amazing good handling. I am sure any after market exhaust system will bring a major plus to this magnificent bike.

I rate the GPR full system as follows;

(1) Performance = 8/10

(2) Sound = 10/10 (not rude)

(3) Looks = 8/10 (not "jack" enuff but ok)

(4) Quality = UNSURE (yet to verify with JR's Peter on the warranty on corrosion)

(5) Cost = Only if you have the itch and extra dough. In my case, 5/10. 3 points for the Itch and 2 points for the dough, -5 points for being expensive.

(6) Factory Support = 10/10 (based on week 1 & counting, what matters most is after I pay up)

Anyone in doubts, please feel free to PM me. I'll be glad to answer any questions.

Take note that this review works for me and it could differ from other's like the Gilera Runner 200. As far as I know, the Runner 200 VXR have 2 system to chose from, mainly the Leo Vince or the GPR.

my 2 cents worth

I look at the "power com" included wif the pipe as a very plus point becoz end of the day I feel dat y aftmkt exhuast on the vxrs r not performing is due to the settings...

juz a suggestion...aft the "power com" installed together wif the pipe, u might also like to check wif the factory support wif regards to any changes to transmission settings to suit as well...a roller weight change might be needed for even better performace
