Sandpaper for Plastic?

Any1 can advise on the type of sandpaper or smoothing material to be used on acrylic materials? I have a plastic head cowling which has some sticker marks. Wanna remove it b4 doing a DIY spray of white colour. Any1 knows!?

Get a bottle of 'Goo Gone' to remove sticker marks/residue. The liquid is orange in colour. You can find them in most D.I.Y. shops.

Goo Gone is safe to use on all materials. If you use thinner or petrol, they will most likely 'eat' into the plastics causing surface damage.

 

I have been using Goo Gone for this purpose and it works well for me.

i would try 400..to remove the glue..

then above1000 for unaffected area..

 

you can wet the sand paper with water...the result is even finer polish by sand paper is achievable..

 

hope this helps...but sand paper will destroy the transparency of the clear plastic..as you intend to pain over..obviously this isnt an issue..

preferably get a plastic primer done before you paint to get a more permenent solution..

Perhaps you meant 1000? The higher the number, the finer the grit.
