hi bro,

you may be looking into the wrong info and thus providing the wrong info.

there are more than 10 pages of safety jobs in the jobstreet.com.sg from various industries.

http://www.jobstreet.com.sg/en/job-search/job-vacancy.php?key=safety

alternatively, you must have been mixing around with the wrong gangs and and ended up concluding that safety career is dimmed and damned job.

you need to work on your track record, experience, cv writing, interview technique, communication skill, creating that first impression and building rapport.

driving uber or providing services to complete various assignments are temporary.

get a life, get a safety career.

Read below see how hard to find a safety job nowdays...just look newspaper...where got safety???? many ppl with officer licence cant find a job so they drive Uber

If you see carefully on each job ads...example below only 7 months contract Safety officer can you see there are total of 70 people applying for only one job...not forgetting 24 applicants are foreign talent and cheap and good...Can you count the number of Safety officer available in jobstreet and jobless ppl with licence.

hi bro,

when ppl say "life is hard", i say "compare to what?"

i hav no qualm about your experience and perception of life.

but if you keep harbouring the thot that safety is not a good career then why bother to help ppl with safety assignment?

aren't you chopping off your own survival?

are you one of the 70% who keep complaining about pap and yet voted them again to make your life miserable?

stay positive.

I am helping ppl to do because I need to survive! if I don't help other ppl will help. it not that I chopping off my survival because it is designed to be taken this way and any tom & jerry or ah pek can take.

do u know that it is so easy getting the all ABCD cert just like attending kindergarden level sure pass sure get. Since it is so easy obtained can you tell me how u compete with foreign talent. our culture is lowest get the job. So u compare foreign talent asking only $2800 per mth vs local asking $10000 per mth for office job. if u a boss who u employ or a HR fr foreign talent? cpf how?

if u bore at home jobless and nothing to do at home go attend it and still jobless after ABCD.

Can u still tell me u still have a good career as compare to Uber driver?

Are u having company doing safe training course where u just want the more ppl attend more business u have more profit....

Seriously start low first, just completed my degree. When I started out with zero experience in safety in 2013. I start low. I was lucky and ended in aviation. Just head hunt by one recruiter 2 months ago and compared to the last non safety job. My pay jumped 60% now.

It is not uncommon to have safety guys working at my pay range and many preferred locals especially MNCs. Be humble and learn from a good mentor. The first safety job I quitted after 4 months, coz manager I cannot learn any things except la kopi skill. Everyday tea break till you tired.

And I take onto another line, everyday don't have time to tea break....But the learning curve is steep. Now not so bad, have solutions to most things, but still got tons to learn.

I would like to seek some advice from you guys. I am 33 this year holding a diploma in manufacturing by NYP and this year i have been enroll to BSc Human Factors in Safety(3~4yrs) offer by Unisim.

I am currently working as a Engineering Specialist in a Manufacturing company and i would like to make a career path switch to safety industry.

I intend to register as a WSH Officer upon graduation but I do not have any safety experience background. Therefore, should i first take WSH Level A, Level B, WSH Level C, FSM certificate concurrently while studying my degree and find any safety-related job to gain the required 2-year experience? Or these certifications can wait till i finish my degree?

If yes, the degree that i am studying is Human Factors (Ergonomics). Should i apply for Ergonomics safety job (Do you know any job which is relevant?)

Pls help as I am kinda lost here.

i may be too old and irrelevant.

shilou, safety is a great career only if you persevere.

human factor in safety may not be the right one for a start even if mom recognises it.

the industry at large requires your input from a wider perspective.

a degree from a reputable u such as curtin, nsw, etc should put you in a better and higher perspective.

during my time, we do not have the various levels but understand that level c is for safety officer.

hachi should be able to advise on this.

@cstay66: You are just being modest. :)

shilou: I sent you an e-mail. My view is the same as Mr Tay (human factor in safety may not be the right one for a start). The University of Newcastle, Australia degree offers a wider perspective of different areas of safety.

Agreed, as BSc Human Factors in Safety is only recognized by SG. IF you are into degree path might as well take those recognized ones. I myself is from New castle. Your career prospect still confines within SG, for wider spectrum I would suggest don’t take BSc Human Factors in Safety offered by SIM. Aim higher such as regional roles and etc.

Same as you, no safety experience when I first started out, went thru level A,B and C and started with safety coordinator.

Experiences count in safety.
