i've not heard about Lucky Lucky but I think you got it at a steal at just $6. I heard that Angkor has some good bikes but I think prolly you got the 'not so good ones'.

But I am just curious why is it that they charge you based on where you are going? Does that mean the further you go, the more expensive they are going to charge you??? It should be the longer you rent, the lesser it cost, shouldn't it?

Lucky! Lucky! is pretty popular as it's mentioned in Lonely Planet Cambodia. Yah, I heard good things about Angkor, that's why I decided to rent from them instead of Lucky! Lucky!. Moreover, they guarantee that their bike will have a working odometer, which I find very important for this kind of trip. Regarding the higher fees, I guess it's because Rattanakiri and Modulkiri are known for their bad roads and stream crossings, which certainly arent going to be good for the bike. So I guess they deserve a higher fee. You could probably negotiate for a lower fee when renting for a longer period. I returned my bike at 5pm and they charged me half price for that day, even though they didnt have a half day policy. Small discount bah. Or maybe it's because they pitied me for losing their bag of tools and had to pay US$14.

I wouldn't recommend Lucky Lucky at all; they used to be the most popular in the late 90s but their maintenance of bikes is really poor. Pauche, contact us when you're coming and we'll make sure that Angkor Bike Shop has a good bike for you (same prices as lucky lucky but more reliable; they only use original japanese parts on their bikes)
