Quote From Wikipedia - Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin". The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals, such as "whiteware," aluminium extrusions, and automobile and bicycle parts. Newer technologies allow other materials, such as MDF (medium-density fibreboard), to be powder coated using different methods.

Cut that bullshit . What is powder-coating exactly? How is it done ?

Best two videos to show you how ...

1) Youtube: search under "powder coat/ pinky" .. as it should be done- fast , hassle free , clean , professionally done - the way it should be done.

2) By the man , talking gun-ho ish as the subject matter expert , search under "powder coating removal" on google.

Price to expect,

For a computer tower I guess , at hardware zone

Mid tower/Full tower : $60-$80

How long does it take to powder coat : 2-3days

Payment upoon delivery ( collection )

Not necessary to strip the case.

Quote from other online sources:

Price range of a job would be from $40 to mid-price $70 to $150 depending on size.

The $150 price tag is for a job on a bicycle frame plus forks.

Bike front/ rear fenders plus tank job would probably cost between $200 to $400 from small size to the bigger cc-s.

Additional Info that you might find useful:

- For a bike definitely you'll need to take off the parts and bring down.

(They are a powder coat company and will not the necessary tools or have the time to do it for you. So be prepared to DIY.

Alternatively you can opt to engage your bike shop and pay a premium for their services for dismantling , sending for spray (transport back n forth) and assembly.

- It would also be good for you and your wallet to have the patience.

Powder coating involves putting on coloured paint powders powders electrostatic-ally which have to be changed for different paint-jobs of different colours so every change would be a bit of raw material wasted in the process, cleaning, stuck on spray, inside ventilation port. So if you can wait a few days for the right colour to come in.. It might save you some money..

Doing everything DIY that I can now.. Judging by the way things are rite now , it is for the best..

Makes you stronger and less dependent on bike shops.

Encourage others to do likewise and help new riders identify fair deals online~ thus making direct seller to buyer purchases.

Its the only way we can push the motorcycle industry in Singapore forward.

gonna power coat my rims..

Take note of the risk involve with the high temp curing of the powder.

Might reduce the tensile strength of your rims.

Check out online of cases of wheel failure.

Though there are now powders that cure at low temps specific for this purpose, you'll have to check with your coater whether he stocks the item.

Excellent post. I have also tried researching into the powdercoating places in Singapore, called a few places but end up those business searches are quite inaccurate. One of them told me they dun powdercoat but make tins cans (?!)

Did you manage to find out in the Bt Merah area? Toa Payoh, Sin Ming and Defu are a little far for me!
