if a motordiam wants to charge for chain adjustment, pls. move on to the next motordiam who will do it FOC...

or pay for the one-time 'lesson', make sure you see and ask the mechanic how to do, what tools you need, things to take note, etc... and DIY from then on... :D :D :D

I had tried to tighten the chain before..

U would need special tool to do so that comes with the bike to do it.

It is very simple.

Bt Batok industrial estate there also got motordiam, they will do it for free. I tighten my S4 chain there for FOC also.

After seeing the mechanic tighten my chain, I still have doubts, anyone riding S4 or swingarm type knows how to DIY tighten chain?

My idea

1) Lossen both side swingarm nut

2) turn the small nut which is facing backwards until chain is tight

3) Tighten back both side swingarm nut.

Is it like this?

I can't seem to find the part where i'm suppose to turn to adjust the chain...can anyone enlighten me? i'm riding an SP by the way.

SP is using the cantilever swingarm type design. I have no idea how they adjust the chain tension on that kind of swing arm. Most probably you will need special tools for that ?

For the normal swing arms, yes,

1. Loosen the securing nut at the end of the swing arm

2. Loosen the rear wheel axle nut (the big one holding your rear wheel)

3. Jack up the bike

4. Begin adjustment on the adjustment nut at the end of the swing arm

5. Check tension

6. Tighten back the axle nut

7. Fit and tighten the scuring nut for the swing arm

8. Check tension again

7. Unload the jack

8. Do a final tightening on the nuts

9. Install split pin if applicable

By the way, please ensure that the wheel axle nut is really TIGHTENED, else ... you know lah .... :sian:

Make sure the alighment markings on both swing arm are the same else just make sure the adjustment is the same e.g 1/2 turns on each side of the small nut.

too tight it breaks

too loose it drops off

But if you're going to err, err on the loose side (as long as you don't make it too loose). Too tight can get tighter as the suspension compresses and this can wear out the drive shaft to the front sprocket.

My chain has already slacked, but the rear indicator have not even raech the red zone yet.

Why is this possible ah?

Oil or don't oil also like this.

then u can adjust it till just before the red zone. Past the red zone and the chain slack is still alot, its time to change the chain.
