Hello there all.. will like to share my experience with the fellow forumers here.. On January, i bought my bike from x shop and paid it in full. The salesman mention that they will renew 10 years COE with this purchase. Everything went well until i decided to trade in my bike for another bike. When shop Y printed out my bike details, i was shocked to see that my COE was not renewed.

1. I went back to shop x to clarify the matter and the salesman mention that he did not say by when he will renew the COE. I explained to him that i wish to trade in my bike for another bike and he threatened tt if i were to trade in my bike, the shop will not renew the COE for me.

2. I asked him if its possible for them to renew my COE this month. And the reply i got was to top up $600 to offset the difference.

My argument is, i paid for the bike in full. I should not have anymore association with the shop. But because of what they claim is company practice, i am indirectly binded to them till they renew my COE (if they renew).

My personal habit is, i will file in all the documents in a folder and when i look through the documents, there is nothing said about COE renewal. What should i do? Should i go to CASE?

My take home message is.. Please becareful when purchasing anything.. Not only becareful when ur doing hire purchase.. Even if you're paying for the machine in full, ensure that all black and white related are printed out clearly. Ensure you understand all the terms printed.

Bike purchased: Varadero 125 $6.6k

You paid in full,, why agree on a price INCLUSIVE of COE renewal later? Since you have ready cash, should have just renewed the COE when its due urself.

LOL what rubbish. Do that to lock customers to them?

Oh well... all the best. I doubt you'd be able to do anything, no witness, no document to prove that he said he will renew coe for you. Only word of mouth?

Unless other customers receive the same treatment you probably have no backup.

Cos they said they will renew the COE for me when i purchase the bike. But of course when i found out my COE wasn't renewed, the salesman insisted that he did not mention when he will renew the COE..

If you wan the issue to be settled quickly, Juz pay the $600 and get the COE done with. They might 'play' funny stuff and renew only 5 years. So get documentation when renewing the COE. Let this be a lesson learned. Now COE PQP is quite high. Should be around the 2k region.

thread starters should be careful of what they post and bikeshop should be tardy in what they do.. Singapore is only so big. all you need is 1 boo boo and everyone will know it. Even if you have money to change name.. Words still spread far and wide.

In other words the take home message is. Honesty goes a long way( both buyer and seller )

Hey all.. Have came to an agreement as advised by my CASE officer and the hq ops manager. The HQ side, they explain their terms better and is clearer in their explanation.

As advised, i will just top up the remaining and close the case.

Yup.. its sure an expensive learning lesson.

Hrmm.. Dear forumers, next time, if you purchase a second hand bike with a promise of COE renewal, make sure and ensure that you know of their terms and condition. Ask whether they will renew your COE immediately after this purchase, or they will wait out till the COE price drop or till its the last month of your current COE.

Make sure all is written in black and white, and as cited by the CASE officer, a good purchase will have an invoice, stating the break down of the cost of the bike. eg; $75 road tax, $100 paper work, $500 insurance etc etc..

Please becareful my fellow forumers, and ride safe!

So what were the terms of the condition? You shouldn't have sold or traded in your bike halfway and ride till COE finish issit?
