Question about owning a bike + having another person as rider

I haven't gotten my license yet.. but im interested to get a bike but having my friend as the rider..

 

so was wondering if its possible to put the ownership under my name while insurance under his name?

 

or is there anyway else?

You can buy the bike even without license. But Insurance name will follow the owner name.

no. cause i dont wanna pay full for the insurance premium first. so listing myself as not riding

talk 2 the bike shop regarding the scheme , they will advice u accordingly as to what role u play. but if can pay direct for the bike then it's between u and your " friend" n all the best to your friendship

Just transfer the bike to you friend. That solve.

Insurance will follow owner name Ok. Insurance will follow LTA record.

Bro, either you trf the bike under your name, and lay-up .

 

Or, trf the bike under your name, purchase a insurance under YOUR name but you'll be listed as NOT RIDING, and your friend will be the sub-ride. You can discuss if he want to pay you for the first few months that he will be riding. So no matter what, you need to pay the full amt first.

 

Or, trf the bike under his name and purchase insurance under his name and either you or him will pay for the premium.

 

That's all the options. If your friend dont need a bike, and you're not going to get a license within a month or two, I would suggest you lay-up first. All you need to do when you got your license is, Tow the bike to inspection centre($30+/-), Inspection Fee(18++) & Park the bike at there, go and get New Road Tax & Insurance, retrieve bike and ride home(:

 

(Unused Road Tax will be refunded when you lay-up during trf ownership)

No. Owner needs to be the main person in insurance. Other can be 2nd rider. Saman still comes back to you since you are the owner.

 

In these type of game, there will be risk. My best advice, get the license first. There may be better deals after you pass your license. There are many stories here to show the negativity of such things. From riding layup bike, riding without license to friends play punk (never pay saman, never pay installments, disappear, etc). Anyway at the end of the day, its still your money and your life, so you have to decide yourself.

The bike in question is currently under my name, just that I cant ride it. Yet. My friend is keeping the bike warm until I get my licence. Everything done here is legal.

For what i did, hv to pay the insurance for ur friend. No way abt it. If ur friend wants to ride the bike, then he pays.
