try metal polishers like autosol or brasso? haha i'm not too sure but those are for chrome parts :angel:

I'm using a rust converter on my S4 exhaust. Its called Pye Rust Converter. It chemically reacts with the rust and leaves a black primed surface. So far so good!

you can get rust converters in many of the hardware shops. i also saw a number of different ones in homefix at thomson plaza. there are the paint on type, as well as the spray on types. basically, rust converters will convert rust into a black surface that is suitable for painting over. or you can just leave it as it is as it will be matt black normally.

Wat's the effect of having rusty exhaust?

 

rust weakens the metal, and if you hit a road gravel hard enough, (eg, going at a high speed), it will eventually break a hole in your header.

hi, anyone knows where i can buy hi temp primer & paint of the same brand? i want to use it for my headers. i've seen the usual bosny/rj hi temp spray cans ard, but can't seem to find other brands like vht which has both primer & paint.

anyway just an update i scrubbed down my headers to bare metal with rust/paint remover, a power drill and sandpaper attachment. then i put a few coats of zinc galvanising spray followed by pj1 hi-temp exhaust spray. fantasticular results.

hey bro. I tried the Pye Rust Converter but it doesnt seems to work. less than 1 week and headers turn rusty again. Mind sharing how u use the rust converter? thx.

I did ask a distributor of the VHT brand "Flameproof" paint if they would ship here, but I think the shipping will not be worth for just 1-2 cans. Anyone interested? If combine orders should be more worth it.

i'm using rj london hi temp spray. cost me $6.90.. use for 1 week the colour start to fade already at the top.. maybe i never spray evenly at the top.

maybe u guys can try this.so far me n my friends are using it.been using it for quite sometimes.usually each time spray abt 2 layers can eliminate the rusting on my s4 headers for up to a abt 4-6mths.but if u r a track junkie or gravel riders den,be prepared to experiance some chipping off here and there.other than tat it worked fine for me.

maybe we can gather those interested and i'll pick just one person's bike be a tester bike.i'll spray the header using this spray paint,den we'll keep the rest updated here on sbf.

my cousin in the marine industry got it from his workshop.asked me to try n see if its marketable den we'll try to bring in more to sell...but the current one i have in hand is considered like a 'tester' only lor...

hm. im riding gts 200 and i got rust at my exhaust not the chrome part but then black part. cos for my scoot the exhaust seems to be made up of the same material as a header and the chrome part is just an attachment on it. i used a rust converter from autobacs but everytime i ride for a long distance the black substance seems to melt and has this wierd smell. looks like the rust is coming back as well. i would like to try spray painting but im afraid of getting paint on other parts of the bike. i know u can cover them up but i am wondering how to cover it well.

hey guys. I read from my SP manual that if i remove the entire pipe and want to install back, its a must to replace the gasket. So if i take out the entire pipe to spray black, is it really a must to replace the gasket even if its in good condition?
