hi guys, my bike cant really have a smooth start. after every ride, i need to press the starter quite a few times, i noticed that everythime the 1st time press the starter, the voltage of the batt will ddrop till abt 6-7v and then the starter wont start, after 2nd or 3rd time then it will crank the engine but still fail. only after 7-8 time then it can start with the help of throttling. wht mayb the cause of the prob??batt i juz changed only. voltage reading everytime before i start is at 12.5v.

Thanks and regards!

ur battery might still be the issue bro. cux despite it showing 12.5V, its ACTUAL capacity cud be lesser. thats y wen u crank, it dips to 6-7V which indicates the battery doesnt hv much charge left. if u do get it started, check ur voltage wen u rev the engine. if more than 13.5V, then ur charging system is ok, n possibly ur battery is ok. cux if ur charging system is faulty here, u change battery a million times also no use. :)

jux for example. wen my battery was nearing its end, crank it dips to 7-8V. can't get the bike to start. change to new battery, at worst it dips to 10V wen cranking.

my rectifier is ok bro. riding is constantly at 14.2v, so i assume batt and rect is ok. voltmeter i juz change only, i dont think it will giv very off reading. mayb the carbon starter??

Either battery problem, or ur electric wiring got problem.

You can ask ur mech to check out the wirings connected to the electric start, also check for spark plug fouling.

yup will do so, but juz curious whats wrong with the prob. haha cheers

new battery with 14.2v when riding, but dip to 7-8v when crank.

Check ur starter relay.

u mean this may be faulty izit??

i cranked around 10 times then can. usually the 1st - 3rd crank, the batt will dip to 7-8v then the starter is jammed. crank around 4th times then the motor start to crank and by around the 10th times, voila engine will on.

1st - does your volt meter show the same in the past? As in when you start the volt didnt dip? If it does, means that your volt meter is connected to a weak source. Meaning that particular wiring that is connected to your voltmeter is going or gone. Choose another wire to see if it stables.

2nd - Did you leave your bike for like few weeks or you seldom ride? Is your bike a carb bike? If it is then carb need to clean up of if its FI then your jet need to retune.

3rd - Since your spark plug just change, but when you throttle does the voltmeter rev up as well? If it doesnt then mean you got to check your Magnet and Coil.

Hope your wiring is not too old. Cos if it is see if there is a mech that can suggest a better option if not have to change harness which is costly. If you need help let me knw i can suggest my mech.

hi bro to answer ur question :

1. My voltmeter is connected directly to the batt(i installed a switch, so i can freely on or off the voltmeter w/o having to even ignite the switch), and about a week ago, when i cranked the electric starter it only dips to 10+v.

2. Nop bro, have always been riding to sch, everyday infact. suddenly the problem juz appear. yeep it is a 2005 cbr 150 (carb version). i will bring it to workshop to clean the carb.

3. yes when i throttle the voltmeter will charge up. ignition coil i juz changed about a month back, batt also.

side note : i realized that my spark plug cap the rubber thing, somehow spoil alrdy. when i pressed the electric starter, there is a hissing sound when the starter did not crank(sounds like air hissing out of a very small space). and i cant push start my bike as well.

thanks for ur response bro! btw ur mech which shop?? cheers!! =)

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm then

1) Your battery how old liao? Mabbe the Magnesium inside old liao Hahahaha change a battery to see how.

2) What was the last thing you install on your bike recently? remove it to see if the problem still exist cos sometime its the things you add on that might cause this to happen.

3) Oh you battery new hmm then mabbe not battery prob.

Side note: That is the Spark Plug Cable. Change lor i think yours only 1 cable rite. Could be fuel Pump or Fuel line not connected? But you mention voltage prob hmmmm. Your current is leaking to somewhere but dunno where HAHAHHA.

need to ascertain which of the below applies.

when u press starter button, does the starter crank normally?

1) if can crank normally, just that the engine doesn't start, then go investigate electric supply to spark plug, condition of carburetor (needle choke, float stuck, etc).

2) if cannot even crank properly, then go investigate electric supply from battery to starter button to starter relay to starter motor , condition of starter motor (e.g. carbon brush, etc).

everything ok alrdy bros!!thanks for ur reply. the problem is, head gasket is blown. therefore water from radiator sip in to the combustion chamber, thus making it hard to start due to the dampness in the combustion chamber. bubbles was spotted at the radiator. i drained the radiator overnight, and tried to start, as expected, it starts flawlessly, nt even 1 sec on the starter, the engine runs. i did a top svc and changed gasket. everything is fine now!! thanks again!! cheers!!=)

This type of case can i push start??? My bike on ignition totally no neutral light. Or is it low batt?

this type of case, almost impossible to push start. need to push start quite quite alot of times, cause petrol inside the combustion chamber wont ignite easily. nop, nt low batt.. cheers
