I'm new to this forum, and i'm still learning my 2B.

What are the costs involved in buying a 2B bike?

What should i look out for when buying a bike??

Get from Bike shop lor. Need to ask ard look ard for the same bike model so to knw the price range. Check see when engine start got rough kachiang sound in the engine or not. Then MAKE SURE the COE run out date tally when you buy and when you ask.

Other cost involve are Insurance Road Tax and transfer cost. Usually they will give you either Machine price or On The Road Price. On the road means Insurance and Transfer is included. As abt the road tax run out date also. See if can get them to extend another 6mth for free.

Other than these i think its either you get someone who rode long enough to have experience in bike to go with you. If not then its all base on luck.

If u thinking of Upgrading to 2A and 2 then try not to spend too much on your 2B bike.

Just my 2cents thot.

u can get insurance quote by calling in. u will need to provide ur age, dob, date of licence... even if no licence, just gasak a date cos it is the no. of yrs of riding experience that matters. just say dec 2011 for eg.

next is transfer fee. which u can obtain from onemotoring.com.sg by keying in the vehicle number.

road tax is dependent on the engine capacity and age of bike (>10 yrs: there is a steady increment on top of the normal calculation).

that's abt it.

and yes, do get an experienced biker to go along to see bike and hear the engine when running.

good luck and enjoy the ride.

Depending on your kind of bike you are choosing lor. Lol Sports bike dun crash lor crash cost involve more cos of fairing.

I use to ride a TW in my 2B days. Great bike but too old a engine so sometimes gives problem for the bad bike i bought even thou low bike price.

So either you get a cheap bike and do up abit or get a ex bike which you would also need to do up. Hahahaha

It could range from $1000+ to $5000+ or more depending on what you choose. Vara abt $7000 with brand new COE. TW i think no price range cos some do up and sell like they are made of gold.

1st thing is DO you need such a NEW bike for your wants. Is it for transport? Is it to pick up ladies? Or is it just for a transmission period till your 2A? Yes of cos new bikes COULD BE more reliable but apart from that its STILL a question mark when you get it second hand. Just that parts are more easily available.

I have fren riding KR, NSR, Pulsar RXZ and even RXK with fantastic condition.

It doesnt mean buying from bike shop you will get rubbish and conned from them. Its just that if you dun knw the dealers well enough mabbe you will get conned or rubbish bike.

Some SBF sellers MIGHT sell you Lemon bikes too. So its still up to you judge by yourself and best is do a check list of your need and wants. Get some experience rider frens to chit chat with you and suggest some options. If possible once you have the option then bring him to shopping with you lor. But all and all, dun ever blame anyone for your selection of choice when the ride becomes a lemon.

Wah lau eh... A but premature to look into so much details deh. But i like the positive thinking!

Fz16 released only last yr right? Hard to find many resale now i think, esp if it is a well received bike.

Anyway, lets all calm down on this discussion as each will hv his own opinion and say abt the topic. Chill man.... Peace and lets not allow this to evolve unexpectedly into one of those Peach Gdn XO chai tao kway vs hawker centre chai tao kway debate. :p

no lah. no tension here.

2 options essentially, get the bike you want or just get a simple 2b bike to last until your eventual 2a or 2. all depends on how deep your pockets are.
