Hi Guys, I will be moving to Singapore in the next few months on a two year work assignment. Can anyone give me some useful advice on how to go about buying a bike and getting insured etc. I will be looking for a sports bike around 600cc. Any help greatly received.

Regards

Hi Peter,

Getting a bike in Singapore can either be done thru purchase from a bike shop (hire purchase or full cash) or thru a private buyer. If thru a bike shop, insurance and all the necessary paperwork will be done by them. As for private buyer, you will have to get your own insurance and necessary paperwork. There are numerous insurance companies available if you choose to buy privately but buying thru a shop is highly recommended. I suggest you check out with L.T.A if my explanation is not clear enough.

You may most probably need to do a conversion of your license to ride on Singapore roads.

Hope that helped and see you on our roads soon.

FYI,

Bro I think after you do conversion of your license.. but i think you only can get a 200cc bike at the most... cause in singapore we have 3 kind of license bike... when you conver your license you only have class 2B (below 200cc) after one year of your license dan you can take class 2A (below 400cc) and one more year after you pass your 2A then you can take class 2 (400cc and above).. mean if you need a 600cc bike i think you have to wait for another 2 years... :cheeky:
