The Tachyon mircoHD uses AAA batteries and you can't charge on the go. Not sure about Tachyon OPS HD cam

Alright. Thanks for the quick reply! :)

Anyway, I've gotten the answer I'm looking for. Thanks!

@Paikia44 The position of your cam is mount on the left handlebar, but the view from the right is blocked. I'm just wondering if u happen to see some incident on the right. The cam might not record it.

Also I'm considering to mount on my helmet but with that holder attached to the helmet. I will have problem covering with helmet bag when I carry it. The holder will pop out. Any one have better idea ??

That's a good idea but I might want to mount on bike too so need holder and if the velcro is stick on the cam. It will have problem putting in the holder.

Ya... I also thinking of a new position but seems I am running out of place on my handlebar with the amount of gadgets I have currently. :p

Helmet mount is still the best for capturing footages.

In fact you should paste the velcro on the holder (which holds the camera) and attach to the other velcro which you will paste on the helmet. You do not remove the holder. In fact, I wonder why they bother to make a seperate holder since this is necessary to screw on the camera mount base, goggles strap, and for helmet mount (with the curved side).

Oh.... Maybe don't use Microsoft windows movie maker?

I am in Korea now. Didn't have time to search for another free movie maker n make another... only had 4 hours before my flight.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.

Recorded whilst on the way to work this morning. Camera was mounted on a camera base with ram mount on my handlebar. Paintball/Airsoft cap was on. Angle was abit weird but this is the better position as my front screen all 'occupied' and not much lobang to shoot. :cheeky:

Quality is 'ok' and was quite 'watery' / 'wavy' when viewed on laptop due to the bike vibration although I have Rox anti vibration riser and SW Motech anti-vibration handlebar. o_O

But Youtube actually noted the video as wavy and managed to edit it to be 'smoother'. I uploaded the entire clip as I couldn't edit the file on moviemaker as it can't read MOV file. Wondering why so. Anyone can enlighten me why my moviemaker cannot read MOV file?

Agree. What I like about this camera is its waterproof. And I can even take it during my scuba dive trips. And being enclosed in a sealed casing, sound quality is expected to be muffled.

As for night video capture, as long as its reasonably clear, it's acceptable. For securing of evidence in case of (touchwood) accidents, as long it captures who is in the right/wrong, doesn't really have to capture everything. Just my personal opinion.

Drawback on this camera is not able to do a loop recording. Hence we have to download/delete the files else if the memory is used up it won't record.

Pros & cons of being continuous recording, it sort of becomes troublesome to edit the file. But it also means no loss of couple seconds in between interval recordings like the one in my car which I set on 1 min intervals, there's a 2-3 secs lapse between each files. For bikes (even cars), 2-3 secs means a lot!

Another is the use of AAA batteries. I like the flexibility but of course we can't charge it on the go like some cameras which offers usage of cigarette socket cable to charge the batteries as it records.

We need to open our eyes before we purchase this or any camera for that matter. For me... I'm happy for now. :D

Just received my ram mount. Will be fixing the camera on my bike tmrw for a trial recording. If possible will upload for all to see. :)

u can do loop recording ...just email tachyon and request for a firmware file ...unload it into ur mem card and on it ...than it will have loop recording function

If I'm not wrong, you can indicate the type of firmware you want on the remarks.

Firmware options from http://www.tachyoninc.com

Our cameras are set with the most appropriate firmware for the most common usage of that particular camera. But if you would like to run your camera with a different firmware, please mention your preference in the remarks area on the order page.

OPS HD – Normal with Beep (Default)

OPS HD – No Beep (Ideal for Hunters)

Night Vision HD – Looping no Beep (Default)

Night Vision HD – Looping with Beep

BikerCam – Looping with Beep

Police (OPS HD or Night Vision HD) – Looping with Beep & Time & Date Stamp on Video

"Looping" means you will continue to record when your memory card is full, by writing over your oldest video.

If you have already received your camera without the firmware, you can email the support team requesting for the firmware, like what enHANZed said.

Negative. I have already checked with them. Only these models can do looping, OPS HD, Night Vision HD, Biker Cam.

Strictly NO NO for micro HD camera.

Look on the bright side.

What i am doing now is to use the current recorded files as a gauge on the remaining battery life. Since the batteries supposed to last 2-2.5hrs. Once the recorded files added up to around 2hrs, I know the batteries are dying. If I need to use the camera for longer period, I will change to new batteries. As for the old ones, I will bring home and used to remote control, alarm clock etc.

You can consider investing in rechargeable AA sized batteries instead. :thumb:
