Many of us have yet to test our scooters going up mountains, and uphill curvy roads. Some may be apprehensive about the capabilities of their machines. I suggest that since we are progressively going further and further to build up confidence.. perhaps a trip up Genting Highlands could be a good step up, BEFORE Cameron. Genting is a lot nearer (KL), and not as high as Cameron.

heh heh.. we can also go to bike shop in KL to get some cheap parts, accessories and GIVI boxes ;P

Hi bro Gamerdudez, Genting maybe nearer and going up is much shorter distance. But not forgetting the much steeper slope and more curvy corners. Correct me if i'm wrong.

Done it on my fazer 6 as rider and STX 1300 as pillion. Feel more exhausted than going up cameron after a long ride.

Maybe uncle old liao.

And I believe the purpose is to build up the experience and confident for long distance and night riding.

Juz my 2 cents from a poor man.

Momo's totally right...

Genting might be a little nearer but the slopes are more technical.

Cameron's simpang pulai's ascend is so much enjoyable on a scooter.

and Gamer bro, like we discussed, no problem for a GTS to hit cameron...

alot of msia GTS are running to faraway places...

Keep the comments coming...we will see which date will be the most preferred.

If the dates are not in the polls, just leave the dates in your comments.

cus another big factor is that the dates are clashing with school holidays, thus i foresee lodgin might be a little problem...

another point to note is that IF 10th to 13th Nov is good to go...

we have to expect there will be some exodus either up or down the cameron hills...

cus Deepavali is coming right after our dates, and about a very big percentage of the workers / stall owners / farmers are indians.

Some ideas on the distance chart -

i divided them base on a typical scooter range (200km max) and a butt of a 1st timer up the long haul

* distance in Km and is estimated

NorthBound

Meet & Setoff - GP Petronas - 0 km

1st Stop - Pagoh Shell - 146.6 km

2nd Stop - Seremban Shell - 125.6 km

3rd Stop - Rawang (petronas?) - 167.8km

Final Stop - Simpang Pulai Petronas - 149.1km

Acsend to Tanah Rata - est 70km of nicely paved sweet corners!

SouthBound

- *to be discussed

Just to satisfy curiosity, IF we are attaining flight on our 1st step...

the schedule will be based on the information from this link, painstakingly done by one of our "touring pioneers" of SBF, Simon Soh

INFO : Hatyai, Thailand

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

The distance might not be accurate enough, cus I derive this distance from my good old big-tourers days as below

(but it will be alittle tough for scooters to follow this chart)

Northbound

Kulaijaya shell - 40km

Seremban Shell - 241.5km

Tapah Petronas - 203km

Sungai Juru Shell - 187.7km

Bukit Kayu Hitam - 137.8km

Southbound

Bukit Kayu Hitam BHP - nil

Bukit Gantang Caltex - 223.5km

Sungai Buloh Esso - 235.3km

Pago Esso - 213.4km

GP Petronas - 143.6km

I will most likely stop to pee and drink. Not my style to do more than 100km non-stop. Usually like to just get down for 5mins to offload water and then load water. haha.. fill my tummy with some of the malaysian guava and air jambu too.

Hi Brembo

for the date of Oct 26(Fri) to 28(Sun)

do you think it is a good idea ? because 26 is the Hari Raya Haji holiday....

do you think booking of hotel could be a problem in Cameron ?

By the way cameron highland is not far. to mountain top near 600km. Even travel at 110kph, just closed to 7 hrs with lunch and few shorter breaks in between..Hmmm...possible not to do overnight riding?

Posted

Night convoy is ok as long as Lead Bike has big big headlights to spot cows, dogs and monkeys on the highways.

Cooling ride and can see stars. Also will bypass the massive jam if trip is on Haji holiday.

Only need to spend some time near dawn (5am-6am) to really freshen up because the ZZzz monsters are badass, especially for 1st timers.

2018
